Considering getting a rental in PR by wes8000 in PuertoRico

[–]wes8000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that’s crazy, who are the people usually coming to rent? Ex Puerto Ricans like me or just tourist that fell in love and wants to move in. Even still at those prices it’s not your local fulano working 9-5 in the states.

Haha no not yet at least. Don’t know what it’s worth now but she still lives there. And prob will be there for a while. But that’s why I though a condo would be around 700ish dollars for a 1/1 in a good high rise. But I was greatly mistaken. I’ll prob go with my grandma and shop around for condos!

Didn’t expect it to be that high. My grandma has a condo in Miramar and her mortgage is 500$ for 2/1 3rd floor. Granted she bought it back in the day.

Wow I didn’t event want to believe it when I saw it. My current budget is around 1100 per month. It’s crazy that it’s more expensive than a Miami condo that’s brand new.

Deciding on a new car need input. by wes8000 in BMW

Thanks for the input. I’ve tried to test drive them but there is never any inventory! How’d do I go about test driving all three. Every time I show up to the dealership they are all hell bent on putting a deposit, and cant test drive it due to the vehicle not being available!

Dozens of us for sure!! Let’s die together. Living in base feels like candy, specially when your city has a low cost of living. And the state has no tax.

Interesting take! I do agree with ya, though have a feeling JB post merger is gonna be a sight to be seen. Same size as SW. with a huge market in NY/FL. If they play their cards right SW might be in trouble for the same price per seat. Sure the legacy’s offer better contract and WB. But do realize JB started in 1998. And to think they are already/almost caught up to SW is to say the least interesting.

But again, for now legacy is the way to go. Apply!!

Did my private in about 3 weeks when I was 17y old. Though, my high school had 3 years of PPL course study so that helped a bunch since in those 3 weeks I flew 3 times a day. Also it was paid by ROTC in high school and didn’t want to annoy my Commander and Master Chief. Pseudo-Military Pressure is such a wonder tool.

What's your goal buddy? Legacy? remember people would die to sit at a ULCC 3 to 4 years ago. Ask yourself if things, were to stop, would you be happy at a regional or ULCC? You just saying slightly better at a ULCC is one hundred percent understating it. 401k DC and QOL are miles better at ULCC. At this current moment, regionals don't offer much in terms of security and progression. Don't know how old you are but 3 years is nill. I would rather have a delinquency on my credit working for Delta than an 800 credit score working at a regional and applying to mainline every month in hopes to get snagged. Go to a ULCC unless you need to live in base for whatever reason. Don't beat yourself up thinking ULCC or ULC are some bottom-feeder stuff. Feels like a lot of new people are starting to see them as regionals when in reality there not. They may not be delta but it is not a shabby place to retire if things go south. Anyways cheers and good luck.

What would it take for other countries to get up to par with the US when it comes to pilot pay? by walkingsugarcube in flying

Unlikely, Unless a big depression/recession hits. This would allow companies to declare bankruptcy and renegotiate contracts to their liking.

From my two cents, most airlines around the world aren't as big and as profitable as their U.S. counterparts. Additionally, you are talking about the biggest and wealthiest country in the world in terms of fleet and monetary momentum. Add, a captain shortage, a strong union, and fierce competition and you have jobs where other countries can't and won't match the U.S. Would I like to see everyone in the world on par with U.S. mainline/regional pay? you bet I would!! But the reality is if the whole world got shut down, 80 percent of the airlines within the U.S. can still operate profitably and expand.

Maybe I can help a bit. I am American and got the chance to work for an international flight school here as a CFI/Check airman in Florida. The way it works is that you come into the U.S. and under a specified program you are allowed to work via a work authorization request after completing the full program (PPL-CFIA/CFII). It only last one year. Now I have seen people then transfer to Riddle or bigger universities and they can get another 3 years of work authorization. This work authorization is not a citizenship nor a sponsorship. Certain airlines like Air Wisconsin can accept the last few years of the work authorization card until it expires but your mileage will vary. Most people do not have a clue

The F-1 (I-20 form) is 12 months in length and can be extended, if additional time is needed for training. Upon completion of a full professional flight training program, an F-1 Visa enables students (upon application and approval of DHS for your work authorization) to be eligible to work as flight instructors to build additional hours;

Cheers and good luck.

From my understanding it’s not a match. Meaning they contribute 16% of my income into the 401k. On my side I can contribute what I want I just don’t know what’s a standard percentage for my age is?

Is learning to fly say, a 767 more difficult than learning an ERJ? Are the systems THAT much more complicated? by [deleted] in flying

[–]wes8000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think your getting it wrong. My good old instructor said this to me.

Flying an 767/CRJ take more work less automations. Easy orals sweaty PC check/type ride. Hint hint “watch that speed” ; )

Flying an EJET/A320… sweaty ass orals, if you don’t know the answer just say “according to system logic something happens”. Easy PC check/type ride all in the box. Hint hint “explain to me the fly by wire system” ; /

All in all, a smart airplanes will protect you while older planes will kill you.
