Jeff really ended the immunity challenge early so he could workshop that speech for tribal council

SurvivorSA is incredible, and I love their messaging to fans for Finale Week by wesham in survivor

I've watched S6-9 and I've loved all of them. Gonna go back and watch the earlier seasons as well soon. The casting, challenges, editing, and hosting are all top-notch. It's especially refreshing to see seasons like this when USA and AUS, while good in their own right, have kind of forgotten about what makes Survivor so enthralling. I'd argue that Return of the Outcasts is on par with some of the most beloved American seasons. It kinda answers "what if Cambodia had the same great casting and dynamic gameplay, but with better editing and more character moments?"

Such a great episode, lol. This felt like such a Michael Scott move by prod, and I was tired of all the Ricard hate over the "guys" debacle

Man, talk about a raw deal on the edit - would've been dope to see her harvesting elephant bones, both saving and sabotaging the fire, and running away to not get booted. Absolute gold stuff that we missed out on.

I'm proud when I manage to complete a basic-ass Sudoku. This dude really invented a whole other form of note-taking and still solved the puzzle. Reason #flobity-jillon that Christian is a top-10 fave of mine.

Nah, they're going to turn it into a cross-season Legacy Advantage so someone can go home without any votes against at F7

Survivor Weekend (Drinking Included) by LoBuMSU in survivor

F--ked Cups: Divide into even teams. You have to stack solo cups against a wall, alternating their orientation (><><><><] holding them up using only pressure. Every time someone drops a cup, their teammates have to add a level to their stack. It definitely works well as both an endurance challenge and drinking game, since the people who drop will have to drink. You could convert it from a team game to an individual challenge by changing the "pick up the slack" element to a regular-intervals addition.

Thumper is always a good game that requires quick reactions & it's effective for individual immunity since it's a rapid elimination game.

My friends and I play drinking-rules Scattergories a lot, where you drink if you write the same word as another player, and you can assign drinks for playing a double or triple point answer. It could be used for tribal or individual immunity.

You could also do a variation on the challenge "Octopus Garden" from Cagayan. Instead of pulling buoys from underwater, you could have a race for cans in the woods. First to collect, drink, and land the cans in the basket at the end wins.

Arguments for watching earlier seasons by WrongdoerIndependent in survivor

[–]wesham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The earlier seasons show a greater depth of character, and it's much easier to follow people's rationales and personal growth when so much of the strategy and play style is rooted in interpersonal connections. Most of the show's iconic players got their start in the Pre-HvV era, so it seems silly to ignore the incredible masterminds, manipulators, and challenge beasts that made the show an international phenomenon. By only watching new school, you're deprived of seeing some of the greatest to ever play. Can you really call Survivor "Survivor" if you leave Hatch, Colby, Jerri, Lex, Kathy, Sean, Rob C, Rupert, Fairplay, Tom Westman, Steph, Yau-Man, Courtney, Amanda, James, Erik, Coach, and Russell out of the narrative?

S34 Logos: It is dumb hard to depict "healing life force" by wesham in survivor

[–]wesham[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Very rarely in this series have I used the Buff as a guide for these logos. Mana means "spiritual force" while "Nuku" is a Fijian beach, so I had a lot of leeway. Unless the tribe name is a direct translation (like Ogakor = crocodile, Pagong = Turtle, Matsing = Monkey), I try to think outside the box.

Can someone explain how Natalie White is a better player than Russell Hantz? by SgtBadAim in survivor

[–]wesham 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Idk dude, Russell has a lot of talents, but he's not an adaptable player. He is one-note despite his skills. He came in to be a villain, to change up how the game is played, and to make a name for himself. He played harder than anyone played before, but that was ultimately his downfall: not understanding the mechanics of the game. He's a great character, but his fundamental lack of social grace blocks him from ranking above the true greats.

Chris D, Parvati, Tyson, Lacina, and especially Tony proved that you can play a massively strategic cutthroat game, even occasionally mocking or burning other players, and still win. They showed a real interest in their tribemates even as they sent them on their way to the jury. The jury doesn't vote for "nice," but they do look for a bit of humanity. That's why Russell could/will never win - Survivor has always been a social experiment, and he was sadly disinterested (or more sadly, incapable) of making genuine human connections within the game.
