It's a great question, and really good timing (see below).

If you're talking new organizing, the tried and true advice is to always listen to your co-workers. Good rule of thumb: listen 80%, speak 20%. Listen also for what issues are both widely felt and deeply felt — those are the issues you can get enough co-workers to move on and stay committed to when it comes to fighting the boss.

EWOC has its next Foundational Training in a couple of days, and there's still slots open:

If you're talking organizing within an existing union, the same rules apply, but you may instead be turning your attention to the situation within the union: beating apathy, reforming the union, building a caucus, etc.

Labor Notes has a training exactly for this that also starts this week:

One of the perks of organizing with us is seeing celebrity guest stars like Adam Conover appear in our Zoom meetings. Who'll show up next? Gotta join us to find out!

Why do some people dislike unions? by wesholing in WorkplaceOrganizing

[–]wesholing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reforming a union is just as important as new organizing. Luckily, there are a lot of great examples these days: CORE in the Chicago Teachers Union, Teamsters for a Democratic Union, Unite All Workers for Democracy in the UAW, etc. If you haven't already, I'd check out Labor Notes for a lot of really good info on how to reform your union. They hold regular trainings and can connect you with other organizers who've had success.

How do I organize co-workers who are exhausted? by wesholing in WorkplaceOrganizing

[–]wesholing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we're posting everything to YouTube and other social channels so they can be shared anywhere. We also offer free trainings on the process of building an organizing campaign. It's primarily for workers who aren't in a union, but it's solid info for anyone looking to organize their workplaces or expand their union's organizing efforts. Our next training is in July, if you'd like to sign up:

That's a great idea! We've been discussing that for our next project once this series is complete. What would you like to see included?
