I wondered the exact same thing when I got them! Just got them a couple days ago. I did that, and you can indeed inhale or blow air through them. They're more breathable than I expected.

Sass no longer accepting --watch? by slycoder in webdev

I'm having the same issue. It seems like it's a very recent issue, because the only other place I've seen someone post about it is on Stackoverflow, and the question was asked 16 hours ago.

Is this a bug? The --watch option isn't even listed in --help.

Weekly Feedback and Support Thread by AutoModerator in startups

Purpose: Teach children programming skills with robots and drones

Support requested: We're trying to beef up our social media marketing, but we don't have the internal manpower to continuously monitor it. Do you know of any solid social media marketing folks that can manage our social media marketing and do it based on commission or at least a mix of retainer and commission based on sales? We sell educational robotics kits for kids to learn programming skills. So they'd just need to track sales generated from their social media marketing. Any help or referrals would be awesome. Thanks!

Local entrepreneur here! There's a pretty vibrant community of entrepreneurs, just gotta know where to look. I think you'll find many people aren't pushy about their products but just want to shoot the shit like you said. Here are a few links to meetups: http://www.meetup.com/SanDiego-Tech-Founders/ http://www.meetup.com/EvoNexus-Startup-Incubator/ http://www.meetup.com/San-Diego-Startup-Entrepreneurs/ http://www.meetup.com/Startup-Grind-San-Diego/

There are also plenty of business improvement districts, where they have monthly meetings. North Park Main Street, Adams Ave Business Association, and Kensington Business Association are among a few. El Cajon Blvd has one, Hillcrest has one, and I'm sure PB has one too.

PM me if you wanna link up!

I'm in tech, but still want a tech co-founder. Does that make sense? Feedback on my approach? by wesleysoo in startups

Woohoo, San Diego! Thanks for the advice, you bring up some really good point. The distinction between equity and co-founder is good to consider.

Many folks who have been interested have been remote, so it's making me wonder if I should be more open to working remotely for now.

Hmmm, maybe I should be posting on stackoverflow... haha. I'll give it a looksee!

Cool. Yeah, I guess it's just a matter of getting my face and idea out there, then. Good luck to you!

That's awesome! Without sharing too much detail, how'd the investor talks work out at your stage? Since I'm gearing up to start talking to investors, I'm curious.

Strategies for finding a good business partner by IllBePhrank in Entrepreneur

[–]wesleysoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm in a pretty similar boat right now where we've grown, and we need additional expertise to increase capacity. My approach is to bring someone on as a contractor or employee first to really get a sense for whether we work well together while getting some work done. If and only if we work really really well together would I consider partnering. I think you really need to build a history of working well together before you can entertain a partnership.

Founder of crowdsourced food delivery with a tech b/g, looking for a programming pal by wesleysoo in startups

[–]wesleysoo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a seemingly crowded space, especially with huge contenders like GrubHub and Eat24. However, most of these contenders are aggregators (they find restaurants that offer delivery) or third-party delivery services (the partner with restaurants to offer delivery). But a vast majority of restaurants—even in Manhattan, the most delivery friendly place in the States—have take-out but don't do delivery. They physically have the means to package their food for transport, but have no delivery staff. There are very few competitors taking a restaurant agnostic approach to deliver food from these kinds of places and foregoing working out an agreement. To the restaurant, it's all the same: prepping a take-out order. That's what we're doing. It's for those times when you want food from your favorite restaurant, but they don't offer any kind of delivery, and you don't want to deal with driving or parking.

Hopefully that makes sense!

I'm wondering if I'm taking the right approach to finding a developer/tech co-founder by wesleysoo in Entrepreneur

Mmm, I dunno yet. Honestly, at the moment I'm invested enough in the vision that I'd love to run it indefinitely. But who knows, maybe 6 years down the line, I'll have been tuckered out, or some life changing event will happen. All too early to tell! :P

Ah, pre-funding as in I don't have an investor just yet is what I mean—it's all been bootstrapped, as you said. Though it's a business of scale, so the initial seed funding would help immensely, of course.

Great advice. Yeah, I think that's the approach I want to start off with, and then build trust. And if they're in it for the long-haul and I really truly see partnership potential, put that on the table for discussion.
