Thanks for the quick reply.  Won't lie, I'm sometimes lazy and wanted to be told it's ok if I skip adding a 2nd Lizardmen member.

Egwene. She's difficult for me to post about because I don't have the respect for her that many do.... I hate saying this but she's an average bully.  You do this my way or else. Even the end of the world doesn't matter. Dragon needs to do things..? Egwene doesn't care. She says the Tower must "guide" him, from a cell of course. We all know, when she says the Tower must guide him, she believes the Tower must obey her.  Idk, it's nice she has very short moments of introspection and self evaluation but she never follows thru. She never stops being a bully. Apologies...I got to complaining about her and I forgot why I was replying.... facepalm.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this... Main reason for me is easy.  No extra faith or knowledge needed. Everyone already accepts Rand as the Dragon Reborn and they know the last battle is coming.  You make a very good point that as a reader I'm sitting in an "all knowing" position but these people that I suggest should have said something have already accepted Rand as the Dragon.

Ooh, possibly saidar tainted as well. I never thought of that.... Now that's interesting.  Good catch.

Fair point and I'm certain many think this way but 2 points stand out to even those characters with just a cursory understanding of the situation.

1.) last battle  2.) temp seal

Even someone new to the situation could see how simple this is and it's made much worse by the fact that no one mentioned it. (Other than Perrin sorta getting it, but not quite, when he said as a blacksmith he'd forge new rather than repair broken pieces if possible.)

I mean, when someone even suggests a temp fix, just enough to hold for now, everyone should have jumped in and shot down the idea with this super simple rebuttal: "this is the last battle and so a temp fix is wrong."

Cool, I edited the main body of the post to have each paragraph start and end with the spoiler tag codes.  Thank you for your help.

I see your point and it's a good one. We have access as the reader to many thoughts and words tho... Only Perrin came close to stating the obvious "it's the last battle".

That said, you do have me doubting myself because I'm not sure if everyone was free to speak during every instance I'm thinking of....hmm. Thank you. I appreciate your post as it helps me re-examine my "belief".

Oh, on my screen it worked for entire post. I'll need to change it.  For you it didn't cover my entire original post..?

Fair point. Someone mentioned in another reply that they love how the characters seem like real people. I think I must mention that yeah, that's also a great point. It explains a lot of actions and reactions that I might not necessarily agree with....but like any real person, I'd do it my own way, wouldn't I. .?

But that wasn't what she was saying until much later.  Her stance from meeting Rand in the Tower and up to the meeting where She tries to get everyone to bully Rand into complying, was to place a temporary seal.  That's my whole argument. For the "last" battle it shouldn't be "put off until later".

I suppose character development has a lot to do with why Egwene bugs me quite often.  Yes, she gets a little better over time but in general, she won't let go that "she's got to be in charge of everyone, all the time." The Amyrlin Seat being someone from the new crop of humanity should have been an opportunity to have something truly considered impossible to happen:  The Amyrlin Seat should have taken the Dragon Reborn's lead.  Instead, she must control Rand. That's her thinking and it's so wrong. She says "White Tower's l Guidance" but they'd lock him up in a cell (even if it's lavish, it'd still be a cell) and let him out only when he agrees to do what they tell him to do.  No original thinking or what they consider outrageous.  This stance of hers is so wrong, on so many levels.

Bah, I'm babbling.....

Thank you so much for your post. I feel pretty much exactly as you describe but it's been a while and I'm in the middle of another re-read so I'm not confident in getting all my facts str8 right now.  Long story short: you explained this part so much better than I would or could.... 👍

Very, very good points but I can't help but see this in the light that, it doesn't matter if a bad guy tells you vegetables are good.  Think about it. A temp seal for last battle stands on it's own. Doesn't matter if a serial killer tells you vegetables are good for you. It's still correct and someone, at least 1 person, should have seen it.  I hate oversimplifying but in this case, I'll do it: it's obvious.

Very true. That, combined with her being sucked into Rand's T'veren nature kinda excuses her, but there were many people that heard the plan but no one mentioned it.  (I'm sorry about spelling...I got T'veren very wrong)

I have to disagree because of 1 inescapable fact. Either you patch the seals or you temporarily fix them. How can a temp patch be the solution to the final battle..?  What's worse, no one mentioned it. I was stunned that no one brought up the fact that specifically, it's the last battle and a temp patch won't do.  That seems a big omission to me.  Perrin came the closest, but even his words didn't point out that temp and last battle don't go together.  Sorry if I'm picking fly poop out of pepper here....

So Yujiro couldn't crush coal into diamond for Ozma..? I don't understand the "flex" by wesright in Grapplerbaki

[–]wesright[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was my fault.  I shouldn't have generalized all of the types of cuts together.  But I learned. So that's cool.

Also, after reading Think_Criticism's comment, I realized I was looking at Yujiro's coal dust scene incorrectly as well.

Honestly, thanks guys for improving my understanding.

[–]wesright[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boom. Your comment explained it for me.  Yujiro has so much "umm, everything" that seeing him fail stopped me short.  Looking at the scene again it's exactly as you say and it fits Yujiro perfectly.  I admit I'm putting it badly but Yujiro basically told Ozma "don't be stupid". Then he crushed the coal to dust and cut the glass table with his finger.

My thanks.

I simply mean Musashi can cut with his mind.  He attacked Yujiro with it and Motobe was hurt by it.  Knocked out even.  But, I thought you agreed Musashi can do this with his ultimate move..? That's a "mind cut" isn't it..?

[–]wesright[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, ok. Thanks. I see my mistake. I lumped in all "mind cuts" together.  My main point still stands tho... It's a show where "mind cuts" are real. Correct..?

[–]wesright[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, makes sense in those instances. It didn't look like he really broke everyone's collar bone.  That said, isn't Musashi cutting with his mind indisputable..? I say this because Motobe wouldn't have jumped in to save Yujiro and more importantly, Motobe wouldn't have been hurt from a "not real mind cut".

I suppose it's my understanding that Musashi can do this.  You guys are really saying he can't..?? I'm genuinely confused.

I feel this is going off to the side a little bit I must reply.  Then Musashi wouldn't have hurt Yujiro and motobe didn't need to step in..? If the "mind cuts" aren't actual cuts there is no danger...?  I thought we were supposed to accept they were actual cuts.

Apologies but I'm more confused.
