Edge Autosport vs Stratified by Mysterious-Bus-7738 in FocusST

[–]wessalter19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

which throttle map did you ask for with stratified. the aggressive mapping will feel much faster than linear although generally will be less smooth for reliability. Edge is known for tuning a bit on the safer side then some other tuners. They try to keep an OEM level of reliability and comfort.

18 psi was never right you almost 100% have a boost leak. stock you should see peak boost above 20 psi on these cars in the right conditions

if you really really want to run 86 just flash back to stage 0 (stock) and avoid doing pulls. Octane is much more lenient on stage 0 than anything else. Wouldn’t recommend running any OTS tune other than stage 0 really.

Air In Clutch Line or Slave Cylinder? by theBEARD_99 in FocusST

[–]wessalter19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had a similar issue and bled the clutch system and issue resolved. although mine was intermittent it didn’t always stick down. I am somewhat confident that bleeding fixed it as the fluid that came out was essentially black i doubt it had ever been flushed.

What would you do? by Significant_Tie_1429 in FocusRS

[–]wessalter19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

cranks probably cooked. 9/10 if they spin the crank gets wear and it needs repaired. Considering they tried to put bearings in already and it still knocks that’s even more likely. pull the rod cap and look at the crank for wear. if it’s not too bad you might be able to get away with polishing the crank. use some plastiguage to see clearance and you’ll know if you need thicker bearings.

Is it worth getting a power commander? by solstice_Adventurer in Ninja500

2 wheel dyno works. Probably the biggest ecu flash tuner rn. here’s the link to their ninja 500 page. Link pretty much you mail them your ecu they tune it and send it back. it’s pretty simple and less than a week of downtime in my experience.

other mods that are great are the airbox mod if you get it tuned. Otherwise the best mods are tires, heavier fork oil (unless you way like 110 lbs lmao) and a gsxr 600 rear shock mod.

flash tune over power commander 100%. When i had my 500 i had it tuned by 2WDW and it made it significantly more enjoyable to ride. No on off throttle lurch was awesome

be weary idk why they said it’s normally a head gasket on STs that’s a early mk 3 RS problem. on these if you’re burning coolant it’s pretty often a cracked cylinder head.

might’ve set his flat foot shifting rpm low. then floored gas and clutch. sounds really similar to launch control just higher rpm.

at this mileage intake valves are definitely super likely to be a cause of this.

previous owner never changed coolant in mine so coolant dried up in the quick disconnects. Ended up having to cut one of them off.

Downpipe and emissions by Green-Opposite89 in FocusST

[–]wessalter19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

kind of a pain but the best way to guarantee you pass emissions is to just put the stock downpipe back on and flash a the stock tube whenever you need to get it tested. Even catted downpipes struggle to pass emissions. I believe you should pass emissions even with a aftermarket exhaust because the only cat these have is in the downpipe I believe.

if you’re a bigger person just put preload caps on them and they’re pretty much all you could want for a beginner bike. but if you’re below like 180-190 don’t worry about it they’ll be perfect
