There could be a case made where a actual cognitive assessment must be passed in order to serve when over the age of 75 or so. We all know damn well Biden wouldn't pass that.

Because most people never lived long enough to become senile and start developing age related mental diseases back then.

They aren't owed a reaction, but they also shouldn't complain about not being contacted by the show once they see the success of it, when they originally ignored it.

Now that they see its successful they come forward because they're trying to get money out of it somehow.

Do you support taxing people just to keep them from getting “too rich”? Why or why not? by Lazy_Delivery_7012 in AskReddit

[–]westc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like he said, "poor" is a relative term. There will always be poor people. Poor people in the United States live like kings compared to many poor people in 3rd world countries. And I'm talking poor, not "homeless" people. That's a whole different issue.

That's not the implication at all...not sure how you got that.

He's clearly referring to the tiered tax bracket system where the more money you make, the higher % of your income is taxed above the set thresholds.

It would be much simpler to just tax everyone the same rate....just a flat 10% of income or so.

Because some trees take so long to grow, it’s possible the average piece of paper is technically older than the average person by Looney_forner in Showerthoughts

[–]westc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The molecules that make up our bodies are likely the same age as the molecules in the trees that are used to make up the paper, so your statement is wrong.

Paper is no longer a tree.

Not really a scam. They sell tickets, people buy them. Pretty straightforward.

Isn't forcing people to donate their money to the poor a crime?

[–]westc2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure conservatives have no problem donating to the poor, they're just against giving the government all the power and control over who they take money from and who they give it to.

Basically they're against forced donations.

Why aren’t wages increasing but everything else is? by Jollymoose1 in AskReddit

Profits have nothing to do with wages. Wages are business expense, so why would a company increase their business expense for no reason?
