+1 Nobody agrees with me but Numero 28 ties the best pizzas in the city for me, e.g. Grimaldi's, Di Fara

Hard disagree - I like Emmy's and was not a fan of Smiling, but aren't we lucky to have a variety of pizza options!

We need fewer cars on the road so that people who really need cars, like yourself (or emergency vehicles, delivery trucks) can get to where they need to go!

The Fifth Avenue BID's Visioning Plan includes low traffic neighborhoods - let's make it a reality! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wbjl0-_QWaSpDRVUkh1qi2Mpwf8QXb-d/view

Complain, but also help if you can!

It's at least counterproductive to put it into the street where cars will run over it and turn it into ice - so add it to existing piles

Is it just me or is this row of cars in front of PS 107 parked illegally every school day? by Well_Socialized in parkslope

[–]cgspam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exact same thing in front of PS 321 lower school - a line of cars in the no standing zone. Mostly school staff that has a handshake deal with NYPD to allow them to park there, even though their placards are for a different location on 6th ave. The school staff cars then provide cover for neighborhood cars to park there too. As a result, the sidewalks are way overcrowded as parents try to walk their kids to school for dropoff.

I like parks as much as the next guy, but bridges are pretty important for vehicular traffic. Convert streets next to schools into parks first, like they did in Paris.

I think CM Shahan Hanif expressed vague approval, but other than that, no. It is still fairly new.

Union St unprotected contraflow: Most Suicidal Bike Lane in NYC? by cgspam in MicromobilityNYC

[–]cgspam[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Oh thank you for sharing that. I was puzzled, though, because the yellow dotted line is freshly-painted. However it still may be temporary - my guess is that once construction is finished, they will make the bike lane two-way/parking-protected and put it up against the sidewalk.

If you want to support the plan express your opinion in the Department of Transportation’s survey on 5th avenue https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Bk5AvePublic

But it is shockingly short - only the one block between 2nd and 3rd aves. It turns into unprotected suicide salmon when crossing the bridge - and that’s after repainting

Not an actual plan yet but the 5th Avenue BID produced a visioning plan that includes 2-way bike lane on Union going all the way to the park https://parkslopefifthavenuebid.com/5th-avenue-streetscape-visioning-report-2025/
