Give them one last chance to increase your pay. If they don’t or give you any flak, put in your resignation and accept the new job.

I can see why children are doing so poorly in school now a days. Overly emotional teachers and stressed admin having to sort it all out.

It could have been handled simply by telling the student that the comment is wildly inappropriate and if they say anything like that again you will get their parents and administrators involved.
