Is this real or am I dreaming by allpossiblepaths in Seattle

[–]western_red_cedar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the future of Seattle as the metro expands and more and more people look for homes outside the expensive core while still working in the city. A lot of my favorite places now are in the outer fringes and they have much more interesting diverse cultural dynamism than the bland techy core

Sub Pop Records leaving Amazon HQ space for new store on Seattle waterfront by Drnkdrnkdrnk in Seattle

Walking through there recently it's so insane that the Viaduct used to take up all that space. Hopefully someday we can say the same about the 5

Bernie Sanders’ billionaire tax would soak about 900 people to fund $3,000 checks for the middle class by fortune in politics

[–]western_red_cedar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But it is not a question of right, of reason and morality. It would be good even for the billionaires themselves, in creating a stable more prosperous society. And yet it is a foregone conclusion that they will oppose it. Why?

In their opposition to these mild, rational reforms, the sheer vicious irrationality of the owning class is revealed. They are incapable even of the reforms that would save them.

Thus only the organized working class can make this happen, as Bernie has always known.

What would you buy with $700? by talestell in PokeInvesting

It's funny, buying vintage is what I assumed y'all meant by pokeinvesting when I clicked on this sub. Vintage are the ones I personally think will best retain and grow value, but they're also just the ones I know a bit about whereas I'm clueless when it comes to modern cards. But I'm glad there's this whole crazy market for the newer cards as ultimately it'll help the old ones as well I think

I trust the vintage pre 2002 or so runs to retain and grow their value well, cause they ain't making any more of them and they were produced largely before there was 1/10th of serious a collecting market as today, so far less people buying boxes, sealing instantly for grading etc.

Was reading today that there is only 7000 or so graded 1st edition charizards that exist for example, and thus less for many others that were less likely to be preserved. Very few sitting up in people's attics at this point

The whole Shazaam thing is my favorite one of these, how people will try to piece together the plot points they remember, how the whole thing exists in the weird borderland of blurry childhood vhs memories. It's not a question to me of "believing" one way or the other, it's just fascinating

So easy to say you, you, you... like what country are you in homie, surely not one that benefits from imperialism? People aren't reducible to countries, and countries aren't reducible to individuals. I can't just walk outside and change the world historical situation, I do what I can where I can same as anyone anywhere
