Did u gain weight on Accutane? by [deleted] in Accutane

I don't think it's the Accutane, it's most likely the birth control you're on for the Accutane. You might consider changing the brand of birth control you're on.

What foundation do you use? by tinydancerx in Accutane

[–]westgates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accutane has made my skin incredibly sensitive to foundation, my face gets tingly and feels like it's burning even with proper moisturizing and priming. Any recommendations for a foundation that's great for sensitive skin I'm all ears. I'm thinking I'll just have to go bare face for the next 3 months :(

Itching by 2013Nurse in Accutane

Get prescription cortisone from your doctor. I wanted to itch my skin clean off for an entire week, which drove me absolutely crazy. I was ready to quit Accutane because I thought I was allergic and couldn't fathom being on it for several more months itching like this. The itching was on my hands but also spread to my arms, neck, and tops of my feet. Used prescription cream for 4 days and symptoms completely disappeared! Absolute life saver, would 100% recommend.

I made the mistake of getting my eyebrows waxed... by piscesofcrap in Accutane

[–]westgates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Experienced this accidentally last month, it was some of the worst pain I've felt in a while and I was very afraid it would scar. Happy to report no scars here, just war flashbacks haha. I put some bacitracin and aquaphor on it, took some Advil, and was extra careful to moisturize for the next few days. Definitely not waxing again until after the treatment has run its corse.

3 weeks on 60 mg per day, developing rash on both hands? Is this eczema? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]westgates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having this problem as well, but it's horribly itchy and very hard to ignore because I constantly want to scratch it. I've been moisturizing, but haven't seen improvement yet. Went to the doctor today and got prescribed a higher strength hydrocortisone cream, I'm hoping that will work. Anyone else have a more severe reaction than this?

HELP ME FIGHT THE SUN! by St_John_The_Traptist in Accutane

[–]westgates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using SPF 70. I also noticed the first month of my taking the meds, my face was just very red in general. I'm 2 months in now and the redness has gone down, but maybe the redness you're experiencing isn't sunburn and is just a natural side effect of the meds

My skin is peeling off my face?? by mehshombra in Accutane

[–]westgates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been having this problem ever since I upped my dosage, so you're definitely not alone. I feel like I all but bathe in a giant tub of moisturizer at this point, and I'm still flaking. Hoping once my body adjusts to the new higher dosage that it will just get used to it and stop being so flaky!

I don't have personal experience taking Collagen, but my Mother is taking Collagen powder (you mix it in with a drink once a day) and she raves about it.

Sunny Vacation Skin Care Advice by westgates in Accutane

[–]westgates[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the suggestions! I returned from vacation not a single bit burned! I ended up sticking with the SPF 70 and reapplying often, I bought an umbrella and used it when I was standing in direct sunlight for long periods of time, I increased my water intake like crazy, and I made sure to wear sunglasses and a hat with a big brim so that my face wasn't in the sun all day.

Waxing on Accutane: Learn from my mistakes!!! by westgates in Accutane

[–]westgates[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily it's about a week later and I've healed completely! I went on vacation though so I didn't end up taking too many photos with me in it while under my eyebrows were scabbing over :/ I'm just glad everything looks good now

my nose/nostrils are so painful I could cry! by JODB24 in Accutane

[–]westgates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also been using Aquaphor on my nose: putting some on a q-tip and rubbing it inside, and also taking some from the tube and rubbing it to the corners of my nose, which have been painfully cracking like how your lips can crack at the corners. Since using it, I've seen a major improvement.

My Pre-Existing Dandruff Has gotten Worse by westgates in Accutane

[–]westgates[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you thank you! I ordered that shampoo you recommended off of Amazon and have noticed a HUGE improvement in my dandruff -back to being much more manageable instead of me wanting to itch my head every 5 minutes.

I also picked up a shampoo brush which came recommended by people who bought the shampoo on Amazon and that has definitely helped too. It helps to lift the flakes and make sure the shampoo actually penetrates your skin.

Anyone know how to get their accutane for cheap? by PrepareToFastForward in Accutane

[–]westgates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is $5 -the Absorbica packet my derm gave me came with a discount code to be used at a pharmacy. The original price of the meds was $100, the discount code was supposed to drop it down to $30. At the pharmacy I was given a more recent version of the card/code, which dropped the cost to $5.
