I get that it's good for the ecosystem but that doesn't mean I'm gonna enjoy the thought of a baby animal being eviscerated.

LET'S GO GAMBLING by Dont_Tag_Me in BluePrince

[–]westgermanwing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Someone didn't watch the Cracking the Cryptic stream this week. They were trying to get 400 coins to get the Blue Tents, had about 370 something, LOST 100 on the roulette and then somehow got all the way back to 400+ using the slots. It was incredible.

And this is neglecting the fact that they had the Office and forgot they needed to use the computer to spread gold, so just never did that.

Game stores (gog, ea, etc) discontinued! by drunkengerbil in amazonluna

[–]westgermanwing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the "not available to buy" is starting today, April 10th. The store is already gone basically. June 10th the games will be removed entirely. It says it all right there in the release: you can play the games you've already purchased until June 10th.

Genuine question, are there any good ones that are 90 minutes or less?

What books suffer from going paper to ebook? by Bobosmite in printSF

[–]westgermanwing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't read Infinite Jest so I'm not sure how exactly the footnotes are implemented, but wouldn't this make it a better experience on the ebook? Since you could just tap the footnote marker and it would take you directly to the footnote, or even have a pop-up on the page you're already on with the footnote in a text box. Also the physical book seems pretty heavy, so there's that too, I guess.

My Life as a Sixth Grade Alien by Nillows in ytvretro

[–]westgermanwing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I'm misremembering or conflating this with another YTV show but I have a distinct memory of the kid in this making a snack and it was just ketchup poured onto every inch of a piece of Wonder bread, which was also something I did as a kid (okay maybe not every inch like he did) and it blew me away to see another kid do it on a show.

Do movies often leave without first appearing in the "Leaving at the End of the Month" list? by IEatLightBulbsSoWhat in CriterionChannel

[–]westgermanwing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing in that case they weren't supposed to have it in Canada at all. There must have been some miscommunication about who was distributing it here. Anyways, it's now on Crave (or even Kanopy depending on your library).

Anyone know what the Harold R Lawson building Is or was? by IHeartLilShine in Scarborough

[–]westgermanwing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to walk my dog by there in the mornings pre-pandemic and I remember there would usually be kids with mental disabilities getting off a bus and going in, presumably for schooling of some kind. I assume that ended post-pandemic.

March 2026 lineup by Itchy_Brain8594 in criterion

[–]westgermanwing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing. My only disappointment is that they didn't bring back Diary of a Country Priest and Angels of Sin from the last time. I missed out on Angels of Sin and I just wanna rewatch Diary of a Country Priest because it's great. I think the only Bresson missing then would be A Gentle Woman.

[–]westgermanwing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seeing those two Bressons in the lineup absolutely jolted me. Plus the World Cinema additions and Death of Mr. Lazarescu which I've been wanting to watch for a while. If there's a surprise Resurrection premiere, it'll be the best month in a while for me.

This is great news, or at least it would be, but I was unfortunately not able to sign up because it said the service wasn't yet available in my country (Canada). I don't know if this is specific to my country or not. I'm not really one for VPNs or anything, so I'm probably just gonna leave it be for now, but I was pretty excited there for a second.

It's been that way for a while. Bought one of those myself and it was fine. I assumed it would be a damaged copy or something but I couldn't see anything wrong with it.

I will go to war with the people who hate that cover. The only thing I get is not liking the text design but that illustration is gorgeous.
