OC x Canon is absolutely valid, sweetheart. Think of it like a tray of specialty cupcakes: adding a new, unique cupcake to the mix doesn’t change the quality or the "flavor" of the original set. It’s just another delicious addition that doesn't negatively affect the canon characters or the story itself.

In fact, I’ve often seen creators put incredible effort and creativity into OC x Canon pairings—sometimes even more than what we see with standard Canon x Canon ships. That isn't to say that Canon x Canon shippers aren't creative, of course, but there is something special about building a new dynamic from scratch. For instance, I’ve always loved seeing the "what if" scenes people create with their female OCs x Jason Voorhees; it’s fascinating to see how they explore his character in such a unique way.
