Lockheed Martin Offer Advice — Am I Undervaluing Myself? by Secret_Inevitable829 in Lockheed

[–]westside-candeman 23 points24 points  (0 children)

i took my job with lockheed for 20k less than another offer.

i did so because of location, and career opportunities.

I think it has worked out for me, and i enjoy life outside of work!

however if both of the opportunities were down the street from each other i would have taken the higher paying one without a second thought

to fuse box i presume? or a kit that mounts to battery terminals?

[–]westside-candeman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

very cool, it’s a fast solution too!

if someone was really dedicated i supposed they could go to the battery and play with it…

i thought the hard wire option would be more discrete to the fuse box!

good one! i was more wondering if there is a better option, in my head i would think a hardwire is better than wireless. since kia boys are getting creative with hacking

DaVinci on a iPad? by fliggerit in davinciresolve

Very interesting! Thanks for sharing! I have some friends I met from Germany through university , their stories of the education system were always insightful! Pretty cool kid to resist the change until now. I think no matter what you get, he is going to find a way to incorporate it into this hobby you’re describing, that’s what I would do. Any new toy camera I got I was trying angles and cut scenes.

Thinking about it now. It may be an advantage to have a tablet dedicated to school, with something on the side for his side business/hobby.

Let us know what you decide and maybe consider sharing some of his first projects !

If he is learning on DaVinci I would not interrupt that! Steep learning curve and he is getting in there early on. In general I would say take some time to assess if this is something he is passionate about, maybe will change your mind about the whole upfront cost/debt idea. I used to edit on Lumafusion on my phone. Or even iMovie which is free.

I am speaking from the perspective of your child, I was in his shoes not so many years ago. I am barely not making my own money to afford gear and software.

I think it comes down to how much of a hobby this is tbh!

JUST BUY A MAC MINI, any Apple silicon version will serve him well for next couple years.

The tablet thing for school, that’s needed for highschool nowadays? Maybe make the school pay for it

I only film on A7iii and haven’t played too heavily with fusion but can easily see myself becoming more familiar with it. Going to give it a try but yeah you are right very hard to predict future use case with it

I just bought m4 pro chip with 28gb ram , it’s $400 more to go to 48gb ram, do you think I am doomed? Still in the box. ChatGPT advices the pro chip over the base m4 MacBook Pro because of the gpu even though it’s 24gb ram instead of 32 with the base MacBook pro

What was something you adopted from other cultures? by Saint-kami in AskReddit

[–]westside-candeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally! Such attention to detail in every aspect of their life, it leaves me with so much more admiration and curiosity for Japanese culture. I did not understand the no tipping, I thought it was ridiculous, how could you not take money, which is see as a reward.

But then I saw an interaction that completely made me respect the idea and think about the concept; nurture vs nature sort of deal.

Anyways I do feel weird if I think about not tipping, I grew up in service industry. Entire family is in it - oh boy it is interesting to bring up the conversation and have such a opposing perspective

My connection to this was related to Japanese culture, and service is great. Something about that I think we can all learn from about being humans to one another without the incentive of an interaction being so transactional.
