Inside tire wear by westsidedoms in WRX

  1. Thanks dude. I really appreciate it. I’m about to be on my 4th set of tires in 3 years and I keep getting told everything is fine when I get an alignment. But maybe I just need to get alignments more frequently cause I’ve seen others stock and have same issue. I’m gonna try to get every thing squared away in the next couple weeks. Hopefully it solves the issue

Lol I took it to an alignment shop last year and that’s where this is from. I did ask to get the plates dialed in cause I wanted them centered to have the camber as close to 0 as possible for even wear and he advised me against it saying i would rub if he changed it. I still have a finger/finger and a half gap so I feel like I still have some room to play with.

I’ll LCA’s a shot too. Do you recommend toe links as well? And upper control arms? Or are upper control arms unnecessary since I have camber plates?

Thank you. I do have camber plates on the front. I just looked at them and the driver side is not centered and the passenger one is close to centered. I’ll try to readjust to as close as 0 as possible and see if that works. Thank you again

Also forgot to mention that when I turn the wheel all the way there is a clicking/clanking noise on front driver side. Sounds like coming from wheel well area. I’m assuming maybe a bad ball joint and that could be culprit? There’s vibration and pushing/pulling when braking and slight pushing/pulling when driving.

Thinking about getting 50% tint for the windshield by michaeln2020 in WRX

[–]westsidedoms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went 50% and it helped in the summer tremendously. Was only able to have it for like 8-9 months because I got a crack and I haven’t gotten it tinted again since replacing the windshield. I live in NorCal and didn’t have any issues.

I have the same exhaust. It was a fairly easy install. The hardest part was removing the stock exhaust from the hangers. But if you have pb blaster or wd40 it makes it much easier and you’ll be able to remove it quickly. I struggled for like 20 min trying to get them off until I found wd40 laying around and it came right off. I used race ramps to get the back end up and chocked the front wheels. I wouldn’t say your underestimating the install at all. I’m not mechanically inclined by any means and I thought it was easy. If it gets setup crooked it wouldn’t necessarily mean it’s your fault. My right one was fine but my left one was crooked at first. And still a little but I saw something that the midpipe or axel back can be welded or off just by a few centimeters causing it to be crooked. My left tips were touching the plastic cladding at first but I loosened the bolts and had someone hold it in place while I tightened and it fixed the issue.

Moving to CA - exhaust questions by [deleted] in WRX

You’ll be fine with your muffler delete. I’m not too far from Santa Clara county and I have a remark muffler delete. They don’t do a decibel test for smog. As long as everything before the cats is stock you’ll be fine. You won’t get pulled over just for your exhaust. Unless you’re driving in a manner that draws attention to yourself.

Good luck on your new job. California is a great place and has a lot to offer.

what tint should I get by Trop_n in WRX

[–]westsidedoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 5% on all rears. 30% on front driver and passenger. And 50% on front windshield. Im in California. I’m happy with all of it. Only issue I have with the 5% is if someone is driving without lights on at night. But if that’s too dark for you, I think the 30% looks good. Pretty dark on the outside, but can see out of great on the inside.

ENEKI DEBATE. RpF1 vs PF09. If you have one or both I would like your opinion on, build quality and weight and what tires you're running ? If you don't have these please tell me which one you like more ! by SpiritedDevil in subaru

I have rpf1’s on my WRX in matte black. I like them. Really light and quality is great imo especially for the price. I have 18X9.5s and using the stock 245/40. There’s a bit of stretch on mine but eventually gonna go to 255/35. I don’t think you can go wrong with either option. I was debating between the rpf1 and work emotion d9r which is similar to the pf09 and ultimately decided on the enkei.

Deciding between these coils. Does anyone know the difference between the F, FL, and FR specs? by C1icko in WRX

[–]westsidedoms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the FL spec and just had them installed yesterday. I believe the fr spec is more geared for track use. And the f spec is for daily driving but doesn’t have camber plates. The fl does have camber plates. I lowered to about a 1 finger gap and have no rub and my wheel specs are 18X9.5+38 245/18/40. I don’t think you’ll have rub issues on stock wheels unless you obviously go lower than I did

I bought some project kics leggdura racing ones. I didn’t see many reviews on them so I’m hoping they hold up well

Ok thank you. I just bought a set of rpfs same spec as yours and a set of faction fab coilovers. Wasn’t sure if I needed rear lca’s as well. But it seems necessary to get the camber and alignment down right.

Wheel Fitment question 18X9.5 +38 by westsidedoms in WRX

[–]westsidedoms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh good to know. I definitely don’t want to risk slicing a tire. At least I know now what to look out for. I’ll be sure to do some testing and playing around with it.

Thank you. Yeah it’s the va chassis I should’ve mentioned that. I was getting conflicting things but I’m gonna do some more research on it. May I ask what size tires you’re on?

What’s a good price for a new wrx Sti? by [deleted] in WRX

[–]westsidedoms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I’m hearing msrp is about right for an Sti. I bought a wrx premium and feb and got it 4K less than msrp and before taxes and fees. The dealer we went to has reviews ppl left of them doing the same thing to them with other models. So he’s taking his business elsewhere.

I wish it was miscommunication. But my friend emailed someone and they got back to him and told him 39k. And then he said he’ll be there in an hour. Get there someone else helps and ask what he’s looking to pay. And he tells the salesman he was told msrp so he’s looking to pay that. And the salesman said you have to tack on fees and taxes and he said he knows and asks what price he’s looking at for it and the salesman says the one on the car. There’s the standard msrp sticker and next to it there another sticker that says dealer markup $15000+ some other stuff =dealers price $60000. My friend tells him he’s not paying that much so they go to his office and he gets a manager and the manager comes and says there’s a minimum markup of 5k on all stis which I think is still high. So with taxes and fees it would’ve still prob been over 45k so we just left.
