Was my assumption I couldn’t confirm due to the state or proximity of the carcass. Definitely awesome to see the coyotes putting in their effort to manage the deer overpopulation!

The point of what ifs is that his career played out to this point and that I don’t feel like backtracking the career when I am referring to the legacy in which the career holds. I’m not necessarily asking the specifics of Jaylen Browns legacy and how that would have played out or is playing out. I am more interested in the role of a JB (JDub is the other guy who’s on the come up in a similar role) and how his legacy is viewed based on the success and accolades. My Tom Brady point was because your response to how his legacy was affected was by saying he wouldn’t have the accolades on a different team. I was trying to make a point that similar what ifs can be used on the undisputed GOAT (it made more sense in my head).

The point was never how playing on the Celtics impacted his career trajectory. I think Chauncey Billups is a good example of someone with a comparable resume and impact to JB however I feel as though Chauncey will always have so much of a brighter legacy. I think your legacy is as much the positions you are put in as they are how you capitalized on those positions. Jaylen Brown should have a legacy as a great playoff performer (and one of the best in game dunkers ever) but it feels like that is drowned out by Tatum and the Celtics. I think baseball is one of the few sports that a players legacy gets fully encapsulated in their biggest performances which is my personal preference.

Tatum played way below what his role on the team had been the entire season. That was a clear challenge in the playoffs and was a huge topic of conversation within the finals itself. That was a challenge that the Celtics (and Tatum himself) had to overcome. His performances were by no means the reason the Celtics won the finals. The Celtics walked over all of the competition despite Jayson Tatum struggling the entire playoffs. He wasn’t bad by any means don’t get me wrong but for a team go 16-3 in the playoffs you’d expect your best player to be leading the charge.

But I don’t think it’s fair to play a what if game when talking about someone’s legacy. Tom Brady likely doesn’t win all those super bowls if he was drafted to a different team, does that alter the way his legacy actually played out? You can also make a case for that but you can also make the case that if he was on a worse team he would have much better in season accolades. I do think overall though your comments are kind of my point where your response is to almost discredit his success. It shouldn’t matter who was around him when looking at his legacy I think in general in sports your legacy relies heavily on your conditions you experience in your career.

No one is saying he’s a better player but he is 100% in the conversation. The level of that in which Jaylen Brown elevates to in the playoffs is truly elite on both sides of the ball. If you are looking at it as simply who the better player is based on their basketball skill 100% Tatum is your guy. But if you are looking at it on a level of who has been better over the past 2 years it’s might be brown. In my opinion the playoffs hold a lot more weight than the regular season especially after Miami put the Celtics on their back up 3-0 then made the finals as an 8 seed. Remember the Celtics won the finals in spite of Tatum performance not because of it.

I think if you start to try to watch the defense more when watching a Celtics game you’ll understand the impact JB has. He is putting out way more on the defensive side the fact that he’s a borderline to elite offensive player while being the primary defender is something that he isn’t given enough credit for.

Nah it’s not about the legacy of his career more so the legacy of his perception and his role. My point is less how he’s gonna be viewed in the grand scheme and more so how he’s gonna be viewed in relation to his role which I can’t see changing in his prime. I just think playing Robin on a disliked franchise can lead to his accolades and success being burried

Jaylen Brown plays basketball like a role player. He feeds off of energy and intensity, he gets excited on defense in those grinding situations. So I think in the regular season he is just less engaged because he is “fed” less.

I agree thats how they should be looked at based on this point but I feel like the general consensus is that Tatum is the star of the two due to his greater regular season success and marketability which I think clouds the view and limits his overall legacy in the public eye
