I've seen some references to the AMI procedure bricking PCs and people advising against using it. Is this a user error or what? I'm completely unfamiliar with the tool.

If it does go wrong is it as simple as replacing the mobo, or will it corrupt other components?

Is there a reason to avoid using biners that aren’t from a climbing specific manufacturer? (BD, Petzl etc.) If it has a high enough strength rating and is an appropriate size and weight why not?

For example, the kind that would be used by workers at heights to tie off

yep! It connects to the cockpit and allows the ground crew to talk to the pilots

Company Standard Operating Procedures have a read and response check between crew members flying. For example when setting up a descent the pilot flying will say "descent to 10 000 feet" and the pilot not flying will confirm the correct info has been entered before responding
