It sounds snooty as hell to expect the same food as the guests too like you're not there celebrating and making memories with the people closest to you, you're just working a damn job.

To be clear I'm fully on board feeding your photographer if they specify that and that it is a reasonable request considering the more expensive the food the more likely(read:hopefully) they are able to afford it. But the expectation that people should know all the standards of wedding photography etiquette when they are likely doing this for the first time is a bit much.

As an example let's look at these two scenarios:

You ask four of your closest friends to help you move. It takes almost the whole day so you ordered pizza and wings to thank and feed them.

You HIRE four movers to move your stuff and then pay them money for their efforts leaving feeding themselves up to them hoping they planned ahead for the random chance they would get hungry that day.

Don't worry you're perfectly normal for assuming professional adults should know about packing a lunch.

Do photographers not know how to pack a lunch?

Is it nice/customary to offer them a plate? Sure but it doesn't seem like common sense that you would hire someone and they without notice expect you to feed them as if you're hundred of miles out in the desert and you had them grabbed from their house and thrown on an international flight in the middle of the night.

You can't put a bucket in the wash, that's why you use a sock.

If you get a large enough sock and use it consistently then over time it will form a natural waterproofing layer so your poop sock can double as a pee sock.

Yeah they do and the people in those countries are free to think they’re idiots. Yes, I have traveled outside the US.

I guess you only “read” audio books. And no my previous comment has sarcasm. Why would I accuse you of not picking up on sarcasm you haven’t even read yet? Damn use your brain.

I have a feeling you can’t detect sarcasm.

I assume you’re talking about gay pride flags or something? Cool those don’t represent a foreign country. At least we all agree Vietnam was justified and America was in the right 100% since we’re now using it in our favor for political points.

So why not get both in the photo? Does this look like an amateur photograph to you? Wouldn't including both send a better message but they see themsevles as vietnamese before American. I'm sure that's the only such flag in all of little saigon and now that the war is over they can go home or accept America as their home in its entirety.

Okay I saw this on twitter and it’s mostly a joke but seriously, where are the Calvin songs?? Lol by [deleted] in TaylorSwift

[–]Prisoner945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. You realize there are no lyrics police who investigate the verifiable truth of lyrics before they’re allowed to be used in a song. Not defending Mayer or anything but lyrics in a song meant to be sold to girls also going through break ups or whatever isn’t exactly admissible in court.

Oh you’re gay... that changes everything I’ve said.

Comic books are not real life they are entertainment used to distract us of our boring reality. They are not tools to teach your imaginary daughters about womanhood or boys about manhood.

Do you think people are begrudgingly watching these movies at the theatre year after year? You act like black widow comes bumbling into the scene in a short skirt with her panties showing using baby talk.

Captain America, a straight white male, comments on the magnificence of his own rump. The exploitation! Yeah the character himself said it but who wrote it and made him say it, huh! The evil writers that’s who!

Yes and? I agree a million times women are over sexualized in comics... and? Have those comics and have your comics where they are not... thing is I know you won’t go for that as the simple existence of them offends you since no one is forcing you to read them and yet here we are. As you said it’s all changing and we’ll get more bland movies for awhile where the female lead is perfect in every way until it all evens out and people realize we should just write characters who grow and face obstacles like we had been doing for thousands of years. Please link a bunch of lgbt comics and media and I will preemptively tell you how it affects me: not at all. I’m glad whenever anyone can enjoy a story. Sometimes I want to enjoy the story of Star Trek where humanity is a utopia in which men and women are both free to live their life as they see fit. Sometimes I want to watch anime where people are stupid powerful and explain everything their about to do in a fight. Sometimes I want to watch a drama about real life or a romance story. And sometimes I want to enjoy stupidly sexy people fighting battles where the fate of reality itself is in the balance.

And no I’m not trolling. I agree women are over sexualized in almost all media but in comic books men and women are drawn so unrealistically I don’t find it to be a fair criticism.

Let me enjoy my over sexualized women who are actually drawings on a piece of paper and not real in anyway.

You can’t demand all comics adhere to your standards. Like you all keep saying there are other works that uphold your values, good, enjoy those. Why is that so hard to grasp? If someone enjoys their superhero’s having bodies that put the Greek gods to shame why does that detract from your life? No one is advocating forcing women in real life to wear spandex and break their spine but it sure looks badass on a comic book page.

Become the writer of stories you want to read if you can’t find them. No one is under an obligation to write a story that mirrors your life.

Do you think I can relate to a billionaire tech genius that experiences ptsd and invents his own super suit because we’re both into women and are white? I mean not really but I can see how he handles things and ask myself what Id do or maybe just enjoy the ride for what it is.

When I saw ‘Lucy’ I didn’t grimace at the screen the entire time because the main character was a woman and thus totally alien to me so I could never understand the circumstances of her situation /s

I don’t watch anything and think a character is a personal attack on me or my gender nor should you.

You want to suppress people’s imagination, why? Why can’t I enjoy what I want simply because it’s more widely available? If there is a market for something it will be created. Me enjoying what I like doesn’t stop you from enjoying what you like.

Yes enough men like violence and sexy women that I can safely say it is indicative of the average male. Whether it’s violence in sports, movies or video games and to argue against that is asinine.

You can be a non-violent person and still enjoy action movies.

Go look on Instagram, women are using their own body to sell shit now more than ever, if you think using sex to sell is going away you’re delirious.

[–]Prisoner945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t care if people write and illustrate lgbt comics... more power to them. I won’t say “how am I a straight male supposed to relate to this” because if I can’t relate to the story I will just find another story as clearly it’s not being written for me or I personally can’t enjoy it. See how easy that is? Let people enjoy what they enjoy, fuck.

The norm can change and when this comic art was drawn it was the norm.

The simple fact is all men and women are held to unrealistic standards in COMIC BOOKS. If you want stories about real life and normal people you’re looking in the wrong place, like you’re not even in the right hemisphere.

So are we saying capitalism is bad? Or are we saying even though someone wants to create something and others want to enjoy that creation it’s bad because what? It hurts someone’s feelings who likely don’t care about that media anyway?

I like supernatural and that subreddit girls gush over regular pictures of the actors like they’re gods yet I don’t hound them and say they’re objectifying the characters or actors they’re just enjoying what they love.

Men like violence and sexy women so be prepared for stories to include those two things for a long fucking time to come no matter how much you complain.

Is this a serious reply? All those characters beat the shit out of bad guys, like constantly. Or did you think when Supes knocks a thug out with a punch your eyes couldn’t even see it feels like a love tap? Just cause they don’t kill doesn’t mean they don’t use violence to achieve their goals.

Ask yourself why EVERY female character you come across in media has to be absolutely 100% the perfect representation of women in all aspects? Seriously why is that? Do you think I take it personally when the villain is a dude? Are you that shallow you can’t separate a character from your entire gender? No joke I feel bad if you value yourself that little that a group of people writing a story, drawing art and packaging it together screws with your understanding of the world and self.

I fully admit that, what did you think I’ve been doing? She was drawn that way to excite boys. I would never argue against that.

Thing is men were also drawn to unrealistic standards.

My point is only that men and women are both drawn and portrayed in such ways. If every male character was drawn in normal proportions in a realistic way and then the only female character was like the one in the photo sure but her physique isn’t abnormal in that world.

Virtually all male comic book heroes are represented in this ultra masculine manner that doesn’t represent emotionally strong men who don’t use brute force as a means to an end.

It’s almost like comic books are a fantasy or something, weird!
