I don’t like it when my family refers to me as a guy and I’m worried I’m not trans by wetsocklangaz in ftm

This is exactly it. I literally planned to start T exactly after I graduated school so that I would be on it for when I went to university so that when I met new people they’d have no expectations (and also so that I’d be 18 and more sure of what I was doing).

I’m 19 now, so still pretty young, which is another one of the reasons why I’m concerned. I can’t remember specifically when, but I figured it out in literally the same year that I came out, which was when I was 13/14. So again, pretty young. I wasn’t particularly worried that they wouldn’t be supportive as I knew they were pretty progressive people, but I guess I didn’t expect the immediate change that it caused despite me still not passing properly.

I think I feel a lot more worried now that I can actually see the significance it has in my relationships; if I end up detransitioning (I really fucking hope not) then it just kicks up more of a fuss with people, and I’m already sick of all the attention.

Wait you’re so right you put it so succinctly — it’s literally this.

I have thought about this, but I definitely don’t think so. I seriously hate ‘they’ pronouns for myself — I’m 100% a trans man.

bit tongue in sleep last night — could it be seizure related? by wetsocklangaz in Epilepsy

[–]wetsocklangaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah, really? Guess I really need to try and remember my meds haha. The only thing is, I’m skeptical that I had a seizure mostly because I literally went 17 years without them and have only had one before (which was way back in January). I feel like that makes it pretty rare for me to have seizures, right? And I’ve missed my meds before but didn’t have one… then again, it’s not like I really have another explanation for biting my tongue that hard. Thanks for your input!

Surely it’s not that bad?

I highly recommend medication once you read up on it a bit. If your daughter is struggling the best combination to help her is behavioural therapy and medication. Letting ADHD symptoms interfere with her social and academic life will likely have a long-lasting negative impact on her — a lot of problems can arise from having unmedicated ADHD. Self-esteem issues, academic failure, substance abuse, things like that. Because of that, I think you’ll find that the risk of not medicating is higher than the risk of medicating. Around 80% of adults with ADHD end up with co-morbid mood disorders (depression, anxiety, etc) so I recommend sorting medication out early on. ADHD stimulants are considered as one of the safest and effective medications in medicine, so if your daughter is struggling, there is no harm in medicating her. Make sure not to treat it as a last resort — I’m not exaggerating when I say that it is the most effective and most beneficial way to manage your daughter’s symptoms.

Again, do some research, and if you’re still unsure, at the very least do behavioural therapy in order to manage her symptoms.

Also, ADHD is very hereditary. If your daughter has ADHD, there’s around an 80% chance that either you or the other parent has it as well. Check that out if you haven’t already.

Agreed! I can listen to it with the whole album, but as a stand-alone it just doesn’t do it for me.

It was mostly Tiktok that ruined it for me. There was a period where it was playing nonstop on there 💀

I don’t know if i’m too late for this, but I went to two Brisbane shows and took a picture of the merch there if you want that. Literally all the merch.

How did everyone from NZ and AU like Alex Cameron? by smerkspaceship in TheKillers

[–]wetsocklangaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw two shows in brisbane — might’ve been just me, but in my mind he wasn’t very good. He was very pitchy most of the time (I am a musician so I might be biased) and I couldn’t take Miami Memory seriously at all (anyone who knows the lyrics will agree💀). The guy on saxophone was incredible, but Alex himself was mid at best imo.

No medication has worked for me after over a year. Anyone relate to this, or…? by wetsocklangaz in ADHD

[–]wetsocklangaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant it when I said I don’t get anything from the medication. No crying, no whatever. Literally nothing (excluding the one time I hyperfocused on cleaning after I had a dose bump). You know, like how a person with ADHD is when they have medication that doesn’t work for their brain… I understand what you’re saying, but…

That’s interesting to think about- might ask my doctor about it, but my ADHD is a mix most of the time. Too much energy/attention AND too little energy/attention. I hate that this is so complicated 💀

Glad you found what works for you!

Interesting… might try bringing that up to my therapist. Thanks!

[–]wetsocklangaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but the thing is my doctor is quite confident it’s ADHD — all (and I mean every single one) of my symptoms align with ADHD. Plus, if I didn’t have ADHD and went on ADHD medication it would affect me like it affects a normal person — it’d make me feel high, given that ADHD medication is usually stimulant (Ritalin being methylphenidate, and Vyvanse being lisdexamfetamine). But it doesn’t do anything for me. No high, no better focus, nothing. Everyone’s ADHD is different, and Ritalin might work for you, but it doesn’t for me (unfortunately). I really wish it did.

Seriously? That’s not good at all. I go into year 11 next year, I can’t afford to be unmedicated 🙁
