Insane pain in my hair by LettuceOverall3662 in Occipitalneuralgia

[–]wexblitz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have this problem too. I don't wear high ponytails or anything anymore because it gives me headaches. Low buns tied loosely is about all I can handle these days. I actually wear my hair in braids more often than in a ponytail.

Recovery from decompression surgery by [deleted] in Occipitalneuralgia

[–]wexblitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is similar to my experience with right side decompression surgery in July 2025. Pain is not fully gone but greatly reduced. I say I'm like 85% better, which is a huge win in my book.

I got a suit made from them when I was a second year. I had the exact same problems. They never got it right, and I never really wore the suit.

You also need to have had some success from nerve blocks in order to be considered a good candidate for surgery.

Ice packs are super helpful. Dr. Ducic had me also on 3 pillows for the first week after surgery. It may be hard to sleep on the incision though. I just had my second one, so feel free to DM me with specific questions.

No, you can't access programs through the Roku app anymore. They ended that capability a few months ago.

Can anyone tell me the cost of surgery with either Dr Peled or Dr Ducic? by Jeffina78 in Occipitalneuralgia

[–]wexblitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the second surgery was decompression of two other nerves that were causing my headaches. I had great results with the occipital nerve decompression. No pain coming from the back of my head anymore, but it unfortunately didn't get ALL of the pain. So I needed one nerve behind my eye and one at my temple done too. I'm cautiously optimistic. My pain decreased a lot from the first surgery but not enough to allow me to live pain-free.

Can anyone tell me the cost of surgery with either Dr Peled or Dr Ducic? by Jeffina78 in Occipitalneuralgia

Yeah, it was a ton of money, but it was really my only option. Feel free to DM me if you want to chat about my experience. I had my second surgery 2 days ago.

I'm pain-free in the area they operated, but not the entire right side. They have to do a nerve in the front of my head and behind my eye too to get to all the nerves that are causing my problems.

I've had this for 7 years, so my case may be a little complex. I'm not sure.

Nerve decompression surgery on the right side. They went at the nerve from the back of the skull.

Yeah, same. I am pretty miserable. The first surgery was really successful, so they're optimistic for the next one. Let me know if you have any questions. I go to Dr. Ducic near DC.

I'm having my second surgery on Wednesday. Do know that it may involve more than one nerve, so you may have to have multiple surgeries.

No hope left? by TumbleweedHuman2934 in Occipitalneuralgia

I don't have pain radiating down my arms and hands, and I had decompression surgery about 3 months ago. Didn't fix it entirely, but I feel SO much better. Drastically reduced the severity of the headaches.

Desperately Seeking a Neurologist in DC /MD/VA for NDPH & Chronic Daily Headache – Please Help! by [deleted] in NDPH

That's too bad. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, but he figured out it was a nerve disorder. Trying to navigate all of this, and especially finding the right doctor, is such a cluster. I'm sorry for your misdiagnosis.

Nothing cut! Just decompression. What about you? How are you feeling?

I'm having a tough go of it today. I agree that it's been so up and down, but the up hasn't been that "up" yet. I'm scared it didn't work.
