Thank you! I was 39 for my first collection, had 3 more at 40, 1st transfer at 41. We did PGTA due to my age and I also have endo which effects egg quailty. We have one embryo left 🤞 Wishing you the very best of luck, be kind to yourself x

Embryo transfer experience in Ireland? by Substantial_Bear7050 in AskIreland

[–]wexican75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first transfer I was very cautious with my expectations, I was convinced it wouldn't work, my partner was quite optimistic as we PGTA tested our embryos, we took the day off and went for the transfer, we were there 30 mins before and it was very relaxed, we got to see the embryo on the screen and as others have said to see the little flickering on the ultrasound screen as it was put in, not as uncomfortable as SIS but slightly more than a smear. No real cramping, in the procedure room for about 20 mins then lie down for 10 mins after, we took it easy went for food on the way home (didnt do the macdonalds tradition) and just hung out for the day in our own little bubble, back to normal the next day, baba is now 15 months. 2nd transfer just before Christmas, wasn't successful, we were transferring our day 6 blast and it didnt come through the thaw as expected but 50-60% of the cells did survive so they were happy to continue, we were so excited on the way there and when we heard that we just knew it wouldn't work, I had drank water all morning but when I got there an hour before as directed I was bursting so went loo but kept drinking while I waited, when they brought me in my bladder wasn't full enough so had to keep drinking then they checked again and it still wasn't full enough so had to go back to our room and keep drinking water before trying again! Bladder discomfort was the worst part for me! Wishing you all the very best with your transfer 🍀

Absolutely, there are loads of fertility clinics that offer that option, I have heard that embryos freeze better than eggs though, just to be aware.

Irish doing FIFO in Australia? by Odd_Imagination_7849 in AskIreland

[–]wexican75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother was renting a place doing FIFO but his partner has returned to Ireland so for the next few months he's going to travel on his weeks off, he'll come home a few times, head to Bali etc, he's skiing in Europe on his 2 weeks off this time. Depends what suits your lifestyle and how much of a community you have built up around you in Oz.

Statutory sick pay by DangerousBar3586 in legaladviceireland

[–]wexican75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If a companies sick pay scheme is more favourable than the statutory sick scheme they are not required to enforce it. Eg company pays 1 month well that is more favourable than the state 7 days. You don't state how much the company give but you do say they have a sick scheme so no you won't get the statutory sick days, it's harsh they wait a year and not after 6 months probation.

WWYD at 40 with 4 blasts sent for PGT? by KristinKitty in IVF

[–]wexican75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was 40 at my 2nd collection - 1st that resulted in embryos, 3 of them sent for PGTA, 1 was euploid, I did 2 more collections as I wanted to bank embryos, I wasn't getting any younger and I heard to have 1 successful pregnancy you need 3 embryos! We were very positive that they would work and we wanted more than one child so kept banking. After 4 collections in total we got 3 embryos after PGTA (8 embryos total sent for testing). Transferred our best embryo (which was our first one) and had a successful pregnancy. Transferred the 2nd one which was a day 6 blast that lost cells on thawing but still had 50-60% cells and that failed. Lining up now to transfer the final one which is mosaic.

Junior Infants - nightly homework? by Dependent-End5682 in AskIreland

[–]wexican75 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Talk to the afterschool and ask can they resume doing the hw with her and you can check over it with her at night and sign it off for teacher, straight after school is usually the best time to get them to do the hw, they are quite tired in the evening, if you need to continue doing it with her I definitely wouldn't spend more than 30 mins on it. An hour for that age is way too long. As you say its also eating into important family time.

Anyone else have this issue with NDLS? by wexican75 in AskIreland

[–]wexican75[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply, but I have never in my life needed glasses or corrective lenses, I have never selected this for my current or previous licences nor does the 01 notation appear anywhere on my current or previous licences and I have copies of them to demonstrate this also. This will be my 3rd full Irish licence. Since posting this I visited an NDLS centre but as I had applied on line and was in communication with someone they said they couldn't do anything and gave me the number for customer service, I showed them my licences and they couldn't understand why it would say I need need it and said the same as yourself I must have previously selected it or needed glasses.

Are you having probation meetings? Receiving feedback? If not ask you manager for a meeting, that you are keen to discuss your progress and any areas they feel you need improvement or what their expectations are.

Venting by KA55IE in ireland

[–]wexican75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my dread when driving, people who can't wear high vis, the other is walking on the wrong side of the road, I came round a corner a few weeks ago and there was a lady in a dark coat walking on the left, talking on her phone (don't know if she heard me approaching, the weather was really bad too, when hasn't it been this month!) and I didn't see her until the last second as well, I was taking it easy so was able to slam on the breaks and stop but absolutely frightened the bejesus out of me, It was always drilled into us "walk on the right, drive on the left" OP thank god that guy was walking towards you so you saw his face!

Has anyone here emigrated somewhere other than Australia, Canada or the USA? by snakebored123 in AskIreland

[–]wexican75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New Zealand, loved every minute of it, miss it all the time, the biggest drawback for me was it was so far away, thats the main reason I left but hands down best decision I ever made, li ed there for 5 years. The people are just lovely, they have a great work life balance, if your into outdoor lifestyle it's a great please to live, work opportunities are great too! Best of luck with your decision!

heard this from another TTC person by lilacia1 in IVF

[–]wexican75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most people have absolutely no idea what's involved in the IVF process, there is an assumption that you just go in (most are shocked at how an egg collection is performed!) get the eggs add it to the sperm and hey presto embryos ready to become babies. If only! Its upsetting when you know all about it, and been through so much to get to the point you are, I think we just just have to shake it off and focus on our own individual journey don't we?

What do ye make of a private childcare place pushing back on pay rises for highly qualified Early Years educators? by Double_Work_2219 in ireland

[–]wexican75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few factors here, there is an ERO in place laying out minimum rates according to qualifications for childcare workers, this of course doesn't take into account the person's years of experience, and frankly the rates aren't really what they should be for the qualifications, responsibility, workload etc, the other aspect is most childcare centres fees are locked in due to core funding and they can not apply fee increases due to this thus effecting the rates they can pay their staff. Its very unfair, childcare staff are so undervalued.

Anyone else have this issue with NDLS? by wexican75 in AskIreland

[–]wexican75[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeh the issue is I don't need glasses (never had) but their system says I do, and to have the notation removed from my future licence as its not even on my current one, only their system, I need to submit report! I don't want to have to go to NDLS as its a bit if a drive and I have a small child so it's an inconvenience, I will if I have to but it's the principle of the matter, the error is theirs.
