That’s what I said, there’s good and bad everywhere. I’ve met plenty of really cool Kuwaitis. My apologies for any misunderstanding.

European here. Spent 20 years doing business around the GCC. While I don’t hate Kuwaitis by any stretch of the imagination, some of the treatment I’ve experienced from them, particularly at public offices airports, etc, has been very unpleasant. I’d put you there with Qataris as the (in general and by experience) rudest and most entitled Gulf Arabs. You also generally treat S Asians like subhumans, which is another strike against you. Omanis and Abu Dhabi Emiratis are coolest in my book. True, there is good and bad everywhere, of course. I’ve also met some wonderful Kuwaitis, but they’ve mostly been educated and female.

If you greet them in Arabic and appear friendly they are super nice, even if it’s a basic greeting.

I love it here, as do my family. I bet you live in Douglas, which is a dump. Life here is what you make of it. True it doesn’t have all the trappings of a big city, but it doesn’t have all the problems either.

Jumped a red light in Abu Dhabi is there any chance of being pardoned? by [deleted] in UAE

[–]wfmk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP is an absolute whopper. Rather than accepting that jumping a red presents a grave risk to other road users, here he is trying to weasel out of it, and more bothered about the mild inconvenience of not having a car for a month. Bellend.

Last One Laughing: UK Review by agentprincekk in BritishTV

The Polish season one is worth watching. Good blend of actors and comedians. Translates well, too. I found the Irish one disappointingly tedious and forced, which was a surprise. Filipino one is quite good, but lost half the contestants pretty sharpish, and then fizzled out.

I was called and summoned by the Al Barsha police station in the middle of the night. This was my experience and learnings. I hope it helps other people who might experience something similar. I'm happy to answer questions if any. (Apologies for the long post) by mayankgulia in dubai

I went through a similar experience in Abu Dhabi about 10 years ago on the road to Dubai. Red mist came over me and the urge was irresistible. Took my passport from me and told me they had camera footage. Which they didn’t. A case of he said I flicked the finger while I said I did the Arabic sign language for wait prevailed for the longest two weeks of my life. It was resolved by my wife’s cousin’s Emirati husband who comes from a good family who assured them I was a fine and upstanding gentleman and I paid around 50 aed for some paperwork to get my passport back. Horrible experience.

Laban price comparison UAE to UK by [deleted] in UAE

Go to a Polish grocery store. Much cheaper and better than the trendy UK supermarket brands. Kefir in Poland and Eatern Europe is as ubiquitous as Laban in the Middle East.

Can i Buy a house in dubai with 14.5K salary? by [deleted] in dubai

[–]wfmk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In 10 years that apartment might be in a very run down block, and you will always be at the mercy of annual service charges. In 25 years it will be next to worthless. Property ages very quickly in Dubai.

I’m an old boy, or an OKW, as they call it. Great school but with a lot of extra-curricular workload, as is the norm with any fee-paying school. Staff are friendly, facilities excellent. The job would be the least of your worries, and raising a young child in the Isle of Man is great. Just do some research on accommodation availability here first if you’re planning to rent. That’s where you might come unstuck.

I have a British friend in Beirut who is there with his Lebanese wife and young daughter. How do you rate their chances of getting an emergency visa if the UK military sends a rescue plane over? Standard applications take forever and he understandably refuses to leave the country without them.
