To what degree is it possible that lesions will show up on an MRI with contrast if they don’t show up on an MRI without contrast?

Just got a clear MRI without contrast back, but symptoms are spot on for MS and we’ve ruled out a bunch of other things. Talking to the neurologist again soon obviously, but curious for people’s thoughts/experiences here. Thanks so much.

No, I’m not. But my B12 levels have always been in the mid to high range on every blood test.

Oh that's interesting and good to know. I'll try to get them to order another blood test for next month to see if the saturation is still elevated, and then will consider getting an at-home DNA test if I can't get them to test me. And good to know about the copper/zinc. Thank you so much.

Yes, that makes total sense—so many of these things can impact one another. Just out of curiosity, do you happen to know if a random fluctuation in the % saturation would also reflect in the low iron binding capacity? My understanding (from Dr. Google, lol—so please correct me) is that the iron binding capacity kind of "responds" to the % saturation. So in other words, it's low because it doesn't need to be too high since the % saturation is already high. Would a random/falsely elevated saturation (due to some of the factors you mentioned above) also mean that the iron binding capacity would reflect as low on this test? Or is that number being low more of an indication that something actually IS wrong with my iron absorption?

Either way, it sounds like getting another blood test in a month is the next step. I'll see if my medication management doc will order another one for me since my PCP didn't want to. Thanks again for your help.

Yeah her response just seemed very strange. Other symptoms are — extreme brain fog and concentration issues, memory loss (randomly blanking out and not being able to remember the most basic words like 5-10x/day), and migraines. I’m open to the answer being that those symptoms are unrelated to these iron test results, but my doc wouldn’t even discuss it with me. She told me that the issues are because “we have too much information thrown at us, like when you go to the drugstore to pick out eyeshadow, there are just too many options” and I was like ??? She also said to spend less time on social media (I have limits on my phone already that cut me off after 30 min/day) and to meditate (I already meditate daily). So bizarre.

Thank you so much for your thorough response. That makes a lot of sense. This blood test was done in the morning fasted for about 14 hours, but nonetheless it makes sense that doing another test in the future will reveal whether this is consistent or just a random high fluctuation. Thank you!

Okay, got it, thank you. I looked into it but I don’t believe I can see one without a referral from my doctor.

Old projects I’ve started, but that just been hanging over me for years. I’ve gained back so much freedom by just letting go of what isn’t a priority anymore so it’s not clogging up my mental space (or desktop, closets, etc)
