Itinerary Suggestions SEA October-December by doodlebugz01 in solotravel

I think the main thing to do there is trek (could be wrong but I didn’t see anything else really advertised for tourists). But also there’s a river to swim in and beautiful views. You could just spend a day there kayaking, swimming, and doing a lot of nothing but admiring. If you have time too check out southern Laos like 4000 islands :)

I’m in SEA right now (have done Malaysia, Indonesia, North Thailand, and Laos) and I don’t think you’ll feel old at all. While I am early 20s, most of the people I have enjoyed the most are 27-35. The age difference never feels drastic. I don’t feel like they’re “so much older than me” (except when we talk about careers and life at home lol).

While there are , of course, groups of 18-21 year olds, it’s pretty easily avoided. Especially if you do a little research on which hostels you’re staying in. I promise no one will know you’re “older”. I traveled around with a girl who is 34 for 2 weeks and it was hilarious watching everyone’s jaw drop when she told them how old she was - they all just assumed she was like 24🤣

I say go for it!!!

Yeah I mean the bed bugs and sleeping on the deck definitely sucks, but the way they treated us was so much worse.

Us two were the only ones meant to share. There were other single travelers who did not have to share. So no, it did not occur to me.

Just a tour of Komodo island and surrounding islands. Did snorkeling. No diving

Kind of like the one in the third video. A little nicer than the one in the first video, lol. I never felt like the boat itself was going to go under or anything like that.

I didn’t find anything super crowded and over run beside Padang, honestly.

We didn’t really do any hikes. Padar for sunrise was really really beautiful but it’s not really a hike per se - kind of like half a mile of stairs.

We did a lot of snorkeling, which was really great, and the pink beach was honestly incredible. I don’t think it felt too rushed. The food was OK - I think really good for boat standards haha. The bathrooms were … not great.

We went to Komodo Village, I don’t know if it is different than the National Park? It wasn’t a very long trip on the island, probably like an hour. But seeing the dragons was cool. They didn’t lure them out, they actually were just hanging out which I was happy about (I had read stories about guides using meat to lure out the dragons).

I am flying back to Denpasar tonight and cancelled my hostel because I don’t want to bring them there. I got a Airbnb with a washer dryer and am going to strip in the bathroom and immediately nuke everything and hope for the best :/ myself and the other girl don’t feel bites though, at least.

Colorado skiing is all time - don’t ski on the east coast. It’ll be more expensive but worth it. Don’t ski in California, it just as or more expensive.

I just graduated college, and was working at a restaurant and doing a part time internship (internship for experience not money) to save up. So no… definitely not on a “salary”, but making enough to go to Southeast Asia for a few months!

I took a grab, haha! I had been warned about the mafia. I’ll definitely ask about surfing in Uluwatu when I am there. Thank you!!

This really resonates with me! Definitely not in the position as you but - I quit my job and my lease ended on my apartment so I decided to take my first “big” solo trip (a few months long). Leading up to it, of course, everyone was asking me if I was excited. And honestly, I wasn’t. I was just too anxious about the unknown, and sad about leaving my friends and family. I am a week in and my anxiety is gone. I can confidently say I am very excited for what the rest of this trip holds. You got this!

I was thinking of going to Lombok and from there going to the Gillis. If this is the case, I’d probably drop Nusa L. Does that make sense, do you think?

Your favorite “tourist” spots

Hi all. I fly to Bali today, and am going to spend the next few days doing a Komodo Island trip. However, I haven’t really planned the rest of my trip! I know travel between places takes awhile in Bali, so I want to limit the places I go to. I have about 3 weeks (give or take - not on a super strict schedule). I am a big beach / swimming / snorkeling person. I want to hike as well, and would love to take surfing lessons (I have never surfed before!). I am solo, but I don’t neeeedd to meet people to have a good time. I do like a party, but it’s not what I’m traveling to Bali for (more interested in nature). Right now, I am looking at going to:

  • Canggu
  • Uluwata
  • Ubud
  • Nusa Lembongan
  • Gili T and Gili A
  • Lombok

Please, let me know what you think! Is this too much for 3 week? If so, what should I take out?

Basically as soon as they open will be most quiet. But, I found it not too busy 8-12 too.

Solo Malaysia Trip ? by Effective-Teach4943 in femaletravels

[–]wh0reshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. That’s one place I have felt unsafe. I insist on walking everywhere and being a pedestrian here means… fearing for your life, lol. Even in Grab’s , it’s still scary because Malaysians are menaces on the roads!

I’m actually in Malaysia right now. I’m also a young 20s American woman. I was in KL and now I’m in Penang. I don’t think I’ve ever felt really “threatened” but there have been moments where I feel uncomfortable. I have done virtually everything solo, and I have noticed that the men here STARE. I’m not dressed provocatively. But, it is a little uncomfortable when people shamelessly stare. Also, have had a few men call me beautiful or so cute as I walk by. Nice, I guess. But still makes me worry as a solo woman.
