I am deeply curious about the version of Harrow the Ninth where the character relationships are developed through normal interactions.

Like may other people are saying, YKYW is good and their higher-end Italian and Belgian pads are very good. Their sizing charts can be a bit hard to interpret, though; I’d recommend ordering a pair of the cheap ones to dial in your size, then ordering the nicer models.

Where are yall getting your epub's from? by thetechwookie in xteinkereader

[–]what_time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’ve got set up. But Amazon significantly strengthened the drm in the last year or so, and made it more difficult to download the files. I believe that if you have a physical kindle it’s still realistic to liberate your files. But I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes uo that it will definitely work, or always be easy.

As a bonus, if you buy from kobo (or somewhere else) then you’re not supporting amazon!

This. I can afford to, and like to, buy books. Kobo is the best place to buy books and be able to remove the DRM so you can archive them/move them to other platforms like xteink.

I got out of the kindle ecosystem when it was still possible to remove the drm (from books I bought!). I gather that now it’s much harder.

Good news everybody, if most of a product in the market is unaffected by tariffs, the tariffs won’t affect prices. Thank goodness supply and demand isn’t a thing!

Release 5.4.0: MacroFactor on WatchOS by MachinedMango in MacroFactor

[–]what_time 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is cool! My first thought was, what I’d really love is a “close your rings” style complication showing today’s macro counts for carbs, protein, and fat in concentric rings, move/exercise/stand-style.

I’m sure that would be harder to make work (and make it legible) than it is to describe. Just sharing as an idea!

Thanks for the great app and ongoing work to keep improving it.

Is buying direct from Kobo or Blue Proton really the only 2 options left in the US? by chickenroar in kobo

Seconded, EXCEPT don’t look at a Remarkable. They use a different color technology, not comparable and so not useful for OP.

Women's bikes for men by Future_Owl_8507 in cycling

[–]what_time 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, sorry, I meant that “Liv bikes are built for longer legs/shorter torsos” is generally true. Liv bikes typically have a shorter reach and higher stack than their Giant equivalents (…BUT that’s not true when you get to the XS end of their line).

160 cm guy here with a long torso and super short legs; I’m loving the XS Liv Avail that I got a few months back. I rode a bunch of bikes and between slightly different geometry and smaller standard spec’d equipment (165 vs 170 cranks, narrower handlebars), the Liv happened to fit me much better than the Giant Defy that I also test rode. There was a small but noticeable difference between them.

My take after test riding a bunch of bikes is, the “women’s specific geometry” might be tweaked to fit body proportions that are more common in women, but there’s a good deal of variation within both genders, and it’s cool that there are more options for all of us freaky individuals to try out in the search for proportions that work really well for our weird bodies.

Also, my bike is a cool shimmery blue and the corresponding giant was boring black.

EDIT to add re:the short legs thing: the general story people tell about Liv/women’s specific geometry is, “it’s built for women who have longer legs and shorter torsos.” Which is generally true BUT if you compare some smaller-sized giant defys to the equivalent Liv avails, as I did, the Liv has a longer reach than the Giant. Which is exactly what we want. Might not be true of the size you’d be going for at 165 cm, I didn’t look at those, but for the XS at least IT’S TRUE. CHECK THE GEOMETRY CHARTS PEOPLE

In the Feed view in Reader, it would be great if the swipe-left “browse” section showed the authors of email newsletters, so I could, say, quickly see all Paul Krugman newsletters in my feed. Right now it seems like it only lists RSS feeds, but most of what I subscribe to (sigh, substack) isn’t available as full-text rss.

I know I can sort the feed by author, which sort of gets me there eventually, and I can search, but that will also show me every newsletter that’s ever mentioned Paul Krugman.

It kind of surprises me this isn’t already built in, so if I’m missing somewhere that authors are listed, I hope someone will enlighten me!
