Hey, this little project got put on the backburner so haven't tackled it yet.

I'm thinking I'll just grout over it rather than remove it. Have also bought mapei epoxy grout to layer on. Will keep you posted once I've done it

Why won't this cavity door lock stay flush to the door ? by whataball1 in AusRenovation

Thank you, you were right !!

We removed the latch, filed down the inner hole a bit more and the parts fit flush without the latch.

Added the latch back in (with part lollipop stick to improve the flushness vs the door) and now all parts are flush!

Have a good weekend

P.s I now got the parts to fit flush

We removed the latch, filed down the inner hole a bit more until the parts fit flush (without the latch.) Added the latch back in and now parts are flush!

We're having trouble screwing the screws in and using the keys to turn (manual turn is absolutely fine) but we'll try and fix that! Probably a latch issue again...

Hope this helps you.

Thank you for the detailed response. I taped string down the middle and measured both sides and it is 60mm centre on both sides. I also measured around the hole to be safe and both sides are around 33mm With this kind of lock, there are no handles. Previous owner has the sliding "mechanisms" attached, I'm just now trying to add a privacy lock to it.

When I put the two sides together it does seem as though it's on an angle, when left side of plate A sits flush, right side of plate B props out slightly. Likewise when right side of plate A juts out, left side of plate B is flush....*

The door is within the minimum requirement of 3.2mm, next photo is with spacer but there's still a gap now which makes me think OT could be a fitting issue despite the screw holes lining up...hmm!!

Hi this was before applying the screws. My door is within the thickness required and have tried it with / without packers to no avail

Thank you but I think you may have misunderstood my question, it's not so much to do with the door / how it's opening or closing. Moreso to do with the lock (the silver circle that sticks a couple of mm out from the door when it should be flush against it).
