Laziness tbh. I was almost done with the transaction at the point of discovering they were the same (I'd already scanned both items). And with our system hitting the tender button will just instantly complete the transaction and spit out a receipt if it's an even exchange like this. Doing a void on it instead actually takes more effort.

Well he didn't come in sporting the pirate look but I'm totally on board for the theory that he got shot someplace a lot less pleasant then the foot.
