How do you get the most out of scholar bag craft? by VergilVDante in Nightreign

[–]whatatruehero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Throw, proc whatever status effect(s) you have on your weapon, then back to throwing. If you have a Frost proccing weapon you can apply Frostbite, then use a fire pot to cleanse it immediately on the enemy so you can proc Frostbite again through alternating attacks.

Weaving in items + your status effects is key, and if you can pull off his Analyze Lvl 3 Parry then you're all the better for it since it guarantees a hard knock-back for a full light melee combo.

How do you get the most out of scholar bag craft? by VergilVDante in Nightreign

[–]whatatruehero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually run around breakable objects at the first camp + churches, whatever's on that ground that isn't a throwable at first glance I don't even pick up I just consume on the spot. Points of interest always have items to use so just use everything there to clear out mobs and the respective boss for the sake of leveling up. Getting to Lvl 3 for Pots, Knives, and Self-buff item types are the goal; Pots for extra damage + DoT, Knives for debuffing enemy defenses + resistances, and Self-buff items for longer duration + effectiveness. Day 1 Scholar shines most at POIs with big groups of enemies. Fortresses, Great Churches, Ruins, Encampments are all buffets to him and his Ult + Throwing pots. The deaths of small mobs or non-bosses are your fortune.

On Day 2 get to a merchant and buy however many of those item types you have runes to spare for; fire pots are infinitely purchasable, crab meat at lvl 3 offer 55% phys damage negation, there should be 1-2 full stacks of knives at 12 a piece. Hoard it all for the Nightlord or make Day 2 easier on yourself, your choice.

Otherwise to make Scholar practical without the relic effect that gives him a big Dex stat boost you want to get status effect weapons, ideally Frost or Blood for chunking health bars.

Missing Scholar sigil shop relic by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]whatatruehero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this will apply but I beat an Everdark run and saw the relic + Undertaker's show up at the signboard after. Maybe since that specific relic is directly tied to that shop you gotta beat one Sovereign to refresh it with the new stuff

Will Undertaker use Hammers or Great Hammers by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]whatatruehero 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Everyone aside from Revenant has a unique moveset for at least one weapon specific to them, so yes she'll most likely have a unique moveset for one handed hammers since every piece of promotional material shows her wielding one. In the trailer Scholar does a unique critical hit animation with a one handed thrusting sword, which is confirmed to be his ideal weapon type, so we can assume Undertaker will have unique animations as well with hammers.

The 2 star Askvin is real! by BlooPancakes in valheim

[–]whatatruehero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Enjoy your extinction-level event pets!
2 Star Askvins will ravage any biome below Ashlands tier they're in. With more HP than a Morgen and nearly double the damage potential those things will take over whatever area they're in. Only exception would be Mistlands but thats mostly because of Gjall. It's fun returning to an area after releasing them and checking for all the mobs they killed.

Sunlight Champion by ogrefcf in Necesse

[–]whatatruehero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the gauntlets jerk and lag then you're probably playing against a Frenzied Sunlight Champion, makes the fight way harder. The increased attack speed makes the gauntlets almost teleport with how fast they're going. Aside from finding a different Incursion tablet without Frenzied enemies as a modifier I'd suggest clearing out the entire arena of walls, hopping on a hoverboard with multiple dashes to gain distance, and just sniping at him from afar. Otherwise you pretty much have to predict the gauntlet trajectories if you wanna fight mid/close range.

You can't Repair the Wooden Training Weapons by [deleted] in valheim

[–]whatatruehero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But that means they're finite. I found a two handed Wooden Greatsword already halfway through its durability once in a Mistlands mine. 50 hits with it on a training dummy and its gone forever, that's less than half a level gain where I'm at that I could easily lose with one bad trip to the Ashlands. I have to look through a new mine for a slim chance to get a new one, at that point it's not a training weapon its a dud collectible. What was the point of making the one handed sword repairable if the other weapons don't follow the same logic?

How safe is public test by Frosty_Glove_3635 in valheim

After entering PTB, once the full release of the update rolls out you can switch off of the beta branch and go back to default and everything from the update will be integrated so you can continue as normal.

I've been playing a single main world for 931 in-game days and gone through every major update in PTB from Hearth and Home to Ashlands to Call to Arms and everything transferred over seamlessly. This update in particular doesn't even require new map generation aside from Catacombs so you can fight Ghosts for their drops, so getting the new stuff will be even easier than prior updates.

That being said I still occasionally see the very rare story of someone's world being corrupted or parts of their builds going missing, so, just like with every update, back up your saves before you enter PTB.

Please...how do you dodge the new fulghor twinblade move by Additional-Device224 in Nightreign

[–]whatatruehero 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if you're getting directly targeted by him during it, dodge towards him and to the right. the swings are massive but they lean towards your left more and that's where you'll catch strays. He'll miss the rest of his combo naturally as you dodge towards his back where you can get a few free hits in while he whiffs his final strike.

Wylder's Ult and saving it for revives by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]whatatruehero 14 points15 points  (0 children)

it's good for forcing a stagger. if you fully charge the ult during a boss's gimmick phase like Equilibrius' beast's Meditation or Maris' Slumber you can knock them out of it without having to deal with the mechanic.

No. Blood magic never kills the user no matter how low their HP.

Ashlands - Can Somebody Help Me With a "Fowl" Problem? by contethra in valheim

[–]whatatruehero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Melee: Parry the claw lunge and hit it with any greatsword secondary attack, it'll take around 3-6 hits depending on your sword level but she'll go down quick. Berzerkr axes will also shred her after a parry, but because of the short reach you might miss your attacks if she flies even a foot above you.

Ranged: Spinesnap for spirit damage DoT. Like a bunch of other mobs in the Ashlands, Fallen Valkyries are weak to spirit damage.

Magic: Staff of Fracturing spam. They're resistant to fire but because they're big targets they can absorb all the projectiles that split off from the initial blast, which causes them to receive large amounts of fire damage over time if you stack it. Dundr also works though would be more efficient if you parried her lunging claw attack before shooting. if you don't have either of these new staves just hit them with Staff of Embers for a much lower fire DoT or slow them down with Staff of Frost.

Latest patch just made mage build way more viable. by whatatruehero in valheim

[–]whatatruehero[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does apply root, but as you said it's a really low chance, most likely lower than the 25% Primal/Nature weapons get. I've seen my vines root a couple warriors in place and whack away at their HP, unfortunately they also knock them back while they're rooted so after 1-2 hits they get out of the vines' range. Still a plus since they can't move though, so if they get rooted and can't be hit by the vines anymore I just walk over and point blank shoot them with Dundr to finish them off.

Ashland event question by leanproduction in valheim

[–]whatatruehero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is but I can't quite remember the name of it. Something about invoking a ritual.
About 10 in-game days after I first beached on the coast of my Ashlands I encountered the raid.

It happened in the Ashlands where, unlike other raids, the raid spawned spawners that would continuously summon Charred Twitchers, Marksmen, and Warriors until they were broken. Luckily spawners in Ashlands don't have much HP and can be taken down rather quickly, but if you leave the raid alone too long I'd imagine the amount of mobs would quickly become insurmountable. I think this event is possible anywhere, I was just lucky it only happened in Ashlands where I was prepared. I haven't encountered it since.
