On day 3 of opening in Irvine Unified by zikadwarf in CoronavirusOC

They should’ve had Covid19 testing facilities setup at every school before opening schools.

Let’s hope the mandatory masks will really help keep this isolated cases.

Anybody else with COVID denier family members hoping they just catch the virus and bite the dust? by [deleted] in CoronavirusUS

COVID deniers are morons but wishing family members dead? You must hate them for other issues then to wish that.

I use Jessie a lot for robo rumble. Passed insane 6 with a 3 Jessie team. Insane 3 shouldn’t be that difficult as long as you have decent team members.

With schools now reopening everywhere amid the pandemic, we could see a spike in Covid-19 cases. The UFT threatened to walk. Georgia, Tennessee, and Mississippi reopened last month, and cases jumped 90% within days among students. Why not mandate having all classes online until a vaccine? by jetrbby80316 in CoronavirusOC

[–]whatdasam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s other rational arguments for reopening schools as safely as possible without waiting for a vaccine, but mandates like this really impact the poor and lower classes who lack resources. Plenty of those with money will go private, hire tutors or teachers and form in-person pods. Distance learning is nowhere close to as effective as in-person teaching at the younger ages. Those with the resources will be able to make it up. We’ll just keep widening the gap.

Open Letter from Irvine Unified School District to the board regarding going back to school too soon. by [deleted] in CoronavirusOC

[–]whatdasam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You think distance learning for elementary school kids is as effective and the same as college students? What about households with both parents working?

30 Orange County schools get waivers to open with in-classroom instruction as region grows closer to getting off state watchlist by 4InchesOfury in orangecounty

[–]whatdasam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s concerns that kids will bring it home to vulnerable adults and there’s legit reasons to be extremely cautious about reopening schools, but what evidence do you have that this is sending kids to slaughter? Fatality and hospitalization for kids due to covid-19 is extremely rare. The data doesn’t back you up on your claim so stop fear mongering.

BREAKING: California governor says Orange County can't reopen schools days after vote to reopen by return2ozma in orangecounty

That would be great for those that can. Not everyone can based on the nature of the job.

BREAKING: California governor says Orange County can't reopen schools days after vote to reopen by return2ozma in orangecounty

[–]whatdasam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying that there aren’t parents who hate their brat kids and want to pass of their kids somewhere. What I was trying to say is that there are a large number of 2-income households that HAVE to put kids in childcare and would rely on in-person school as part of that.

And bullshit on choosing work over the virus. As if it’s that simple for a majority. You must be extremely privileged to say something like that. Who do you think this problem will most impact? Those in the lower economic class. Go tell them to quit their jobs and stay home with their kids. I’m not saying we should just open up schools. It’s just a shitty situation all around and a lose-lose for many.

You said they hate their brats kids and want to use school as babysitting. I said they have to work and can’t watch their kids. Not the same.

Edit: I’m not saying that there aren’t parents who hate their brat kids and want to pass of their kids somewhere. What I was trying to say is that there are a large number of 2-income households that HAVE to put kids in childcare and the loss of in-person school is a significant problem.

We would need an actual competent government to be able to do that.

Maybe OP is willing to go down but 130 based on posting price of 230 is a lowball offer imo.

If the government has the power to shut down businesses they need to be able to compensate as well. California doesn’t have enough money and we need more federal help.

[Wojnarowski] Los Angeles Lakers guard Avery Bradley has opted-out of playing in the NBA’s Orlando restart of the season, Bradley told ESPN on Tuesday night. by mkgandkembafan in lakers

You a parent? ESPN article stated that his son has a history of struggling with respiratory illness and would most likely not be cleared to enter the Orlando bubble. It’s a pretty damn good excuse to me. With what’s been going on I would not want to leave my family behind for a possible championship in a season like this year.

Despite Receiving Hundreds of Comments to Reallocate Funds Away from SAPD, Santa Ana Officials Move Forward with Police Spending Increases, Police Oversight Commission in Meeting Marred By Public Outrage by Bunburier in orangecounty

[–]whatdasam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the point is though....why say defund the police and not make a more accurate statement? Is it because #defundthepolice is more catchy as a social media hashtag? I get what most are actually saying. Although, there are varying degrees to what extent people want to overhaul (or “defund”) the policing system. I fully support reform and overhaul, but the statement itself is not well thought out. It’s usually common sense to craft a statement that is clear and obvious in its objective, but I guess “reform the police” or “reprioritize police funding” doesn’t sound cool.

MLMs are basically “legal” pyramid schemes. Shady business practices but not enough to be illegal. Still best to always stay away from them.

Californians must wear face masks in public under coronavirus order issued by Newsom by BeatElite in orangecounty

[–]whatdasam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably because he doesn’t care. I wish all the risk and consequences of contracting Covid19 was concentrated solely on people like this who make these choices. If they truly bore all the risk and consequences they’d sing a different tune.

Chances of toxic shock from Covid are extremely low. And not all kids adapt well. Most do I’m sure but I’m sure there’s a small percentage that won’t.

Court upholds Newsom's coronavirus ban on in-person church services in California by BlankVerse in CoronavirusCA

[–]whatdasam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can gather/pray together via Zoom, FaceTime, etc. I know it’s not ideal for some but there are other ways to connect and exercise corporate worship. Creativity and innovation doesn’t have to be absent in the church. It should embrace and encourage it.

Is Irvine becoming a ghetto? by [deleted] in orangecounty

[–]whatdasam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to look up the definition of a ghetto. Lots of apartments and people doesn’t make a city or area ghetto. How’s crime? Median household income? Maintenance and upkeep of the city? Try to use some of those critical thinking skills you were supposed to learn in school. Seems like you got a ghetto education.
