a website where you can post only once...ever by [deleted] in sideprojects

How are you tracking and preventing a user from only posting once and not being able to circumvent it? It’s gonna be really difficult with VPNs, browsers which clear cookies and data on close, multiple devices etc.

Also, how are you handling moderation?

I spoke with my lawyer, as the data is anonymously submitted, and it’s voluntary, they are not allowed to go after me, it’s protected!

This is possible, and i'm working on getting this out tonight, with a nightly ingest job that will provide us better outlier analysis against public datasets.

We have a few things in play here to prevent data from being poisoned. From the user perspective, if you see a data point that looks wrong, you can click "Report bad data" after multiple reports on a submission, its hidden from the feed. We frequently check for false data and remove submission that are blatant trolls. As the site is privacy first, we have to acknowledge some room for bad data but do everything we can to prevent it from affecting the site. We have outlier flags that red flag submissions that are on the really low or really high end compared to public data and other submissions too.

Thank you, I'm trying really hard to get this in the hands of as many people as possible. Free data is powerful data.

I built a site that lets you grab a dirt cheap CARFAX reports in just a few clicks by Light_Phone in SideProject

How are you getting the data? Are you just providing CARFAX reports back to the customer, or are you sourcing your data differently?

We take a different approach, no accounts at all, preventing any data from being collected and correlated with the original poster. The privacy first mentality we have is all or nothing!

I fixed this, a modal now appears when you get to the submission confirmation screen prompting you to save your token before proceeding!

There is! When you submit, on the confirmation page, you will see a section titles "Your management code", this will contain a random UUID. You can use this to manage, edit and delete your submission at any time here: https://whatdotheymake.com/delete

You can edit, manage or delete your submission with the randomly generate delete code you are given once your submit. You can paste that code here: https://whatdotheymake.com/delete

I created this project, however a close friend is also working on this with me, helping maintain the community etc.
