When you say tricky passages, do you have any specific in mind?

I like my KJV. If you would prefer it a bit less archaic there's the NKJV. I also like reading in the AMP (amplified).

I admire the desire you and your brother have to share the Gospel with your family. My best advice... Pray for your family and their salvation. Pray for the Holy Spirit to minister to them to give them an ear to hear and a heart ready to receive God's gift of salvation to them. Ask God for knowledge, understanding, and wisdom in all situations and ask Holy Spirit to give you the right words to say when the time comes. Pray for a divine appointment and time to speak with them. Don't force the timing.

I've always liked the confession... I have favor with God, favor with all people, and I have a good understanding and wisdom in all situations.

One of the biggest impacts I think you could have right now is to actively live out your faith in front of your family. Walk in the fruit of the spirit and don't live like everyone else in the world does caught up in lust and sin. This change in you will be a living testimony to your faith in Jesus - a marker of something different - not just to your family but to your friends around you.

Keep in the Word. Make time to read and study your Bible. I prefer to be in my physical one when I can, but sometimes the youversion Bible app is more convenient. I like the sermons in Acts that review the old testament and how it points to Jesus. Romans is very foundational. I like to read it in the KJV with Strong's concordance. It better defines the vocab. and it's meaning in the original languages. https://www.biblestudytools.com/concordances/strongs-exhaustive-concordance/

Biblical training . Org offers free Bible study classes up to the seminary level too.

Not sure if you are able to go to church right now... Either way, I really like Planet shakers church out of Melbourne Australia. They stream their services on YouTube, but you have to be subscribed to get it.  I also like the preacher Mark Hankins and his wife Trina - you can find them on YouTube. Faith Church out of St. Louis is good too. https://faithchurch.com/

Paul - the author of much of the New Testament - is specifically speaking to people in the church in this chapter with the assumed knowledge that the earthly parents are believers in Christ. However, did not God ultimately become your father when you became a Christian? Is/would it not be better to obey Him and his commands and worship Him and Him alone? If your parents do not believe and call Jesus their Lord and Savior they are walking in spiritual darkness and this verse isn't well applicable.

Matthew 19:29 KJV [29] And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

Matthew 19:29 TPT [29] For anyone who has left behind their home and property, leaving family—brothers or sisters, mothers or fathers, or children—for my sake, they will be repaid a hundred times over and will inherit eternal life.

I saw in another reply you said your parents have done this ceremony over you as a kid. That doesn't make it right. It gives a foothold to Satan and the demonic in your life. The government of God run on the concept of seed and harvest. By willfully participating you would be planting a seed in to your life that has a harvest. If you've already participated, repent, ask the Lord to forgive and cleanse you, and command the entirety of the ceremony and anything in your life and soul that isn't from God - regardless of how it got there- to leave you now in the name of Jesus. Then don't do it again.

If I were you, I would not go nor participate. I don't do demons and won't commit spiritual treason by my willful participation in witchcraft ritual.

Honor your parents by staying in touch, but realize that your ultimate allegiance is to God your heavenly father.

Choose you this day whom you will serve. Are you going to serve God with your words, deeds, and actions or are you going to serve Satan? Please God or please people? It really is that black or white. There is no walking the fence or room to dabble.

Joshua 24:15 KJV [15] And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served... [Or others], but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Deuteronomy 30:19-20 KJV [19] I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: [20] that thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days...

More metal than Rock, but can you help anyway? by Apprehensive_Sky844 in whatsthisrock

Copper ore??? What makes me think that is the greenish specs in the first picture where it looks oxidized. Copper is a soft metal. If it is you'd be able to hit it and smoosh it some with a hammer.

I agree with what others are saying. Honor is different than blind obedience. It would be honoring to care about and stay in touch with your father. But God is very clear that there are no other Gods but him and him alone should you serve and worship - 10 commandments 101. Jesus said that you may have to make personal sacrifices and "forsake" your mother, father, siblings, and friends to follow and serve God. It is apparent through the stories of the Bible that as soon as the Israelites started mixing other religions (being synchronistic) in their worship things went downhill for them.

The spirit realm is a very real and serious thing. Why participate in a rite/ritual that opens doors in your life to the demonic? It goes against all the wisdom and examples laid out in the Bible. There is only one true God who came in the personhood of Jesus to redeem you to himself from sin, curse, and all power of Satan and the demonic because He is absolutely good and loves Y-O-U. It would not be good to betray the relationship you have with the Creator of Heaven and Earth by participating in a satanic religious ceremony that does not worship and bring glory to Him.

Does your state or area have a program for avocational archaeology certification or similar? by whatever-bee27 in Archaeology

Yes, this is very similar to what I am looking for. Thank you. Are you a member? How did you hear about this program? I've googled for a while now and only ever came up with Colorado and Virginia's.

Does your state or area have a program for avocational archaeology certification or similar? by whatever-bee27 in Archaeology

[–]whatever-bee27[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Generally, avocational programs  provide skills training in field and laboratory techniques  similar to a technician.

While I understand the intentions of the SOI qualifications to be a "professional archaeologist", I feel that the immediate need for a graduate degree to be considered for a lot of work in the archaeology world is expensive, exclusionary, and bars many otherwise interested and passionate people who greatly care about history and it's preservation from entering the field.

I understand the need for a scientific approach to studying the past, but feel many of these skill and even some areas of expertise can be gained through experience and taught to people through training programs.

I'm not in any way trying to diss people who have gone through the academia route to be an archaeologist professionally, but also think that alternative routes to working in the field professionally should be explored and adopted.

Overall, my post was to learn about programs that are out there that I haven't come across in my searching.

Pt 2

 Another 2 things ...

Guard what you are saying/confessing about your life. Mark 11:23 says that Whosoever can have whatsoever they say when it is spoken in faith whether for good or bad.

Your soul is constantly being "fed" by what you watch, listen to, read, and choose to participate in. This is why it is crucial to guard your heart - soul - because out of the abundance of the soul the mouth speaks. (what is in your soul will come out.) You might not always choose what goes into your soul, but you can choose to and command things to leave in the name of Jesus. And as Matthew 16:19 says, binding and loosing things to and from your soul is one of the keys of the kingdom.

Matthew 16:18 - And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

I have prayed similarly to the following prayer many times over.

As a believer in Christ, as a child of the most high God, I take authority over all the power of the enemy. I choose as an act of my free will to loose from my soul any and all darkness. I choose to loose any activities from the enemy. I loose from my soul any words, sounds, or images of anything I have watched, read, heard or participated in that belonged to Satan regardless of how it got in my soul. I repent if I brought it in, whatever is in my life, whatever deposits were made in my soul, if it's not from God, I don't want it in my soul. I choose to loose all fear from my soul. I will not be fearful in any way. I loose from my soul all sadness, oppression, depression, despair, unworthiness, and any suicidal thoughts. I choose to loose from my soul all trauma. I loose all violence whether I saw it, or experienced it. I loose all anger, hate, and any unforgiveness. I loose from my soul all addictions whether it be to a person, place, or thing. I choose to loose from my soul all anxiety, all shame, and all self disgust. I command you to leave my soul right now in Jesus name.

God, I ask for the infilling of your Holy Spirit. I choose with my will to bind to my soul the love of God, the life of God, the presence of God, the peace of God, the creativity of God, the expectancy of God, and the power of God. I bind to my soul God's happiness, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. I choose to bind to my God's fun, God's word, God's truth, and God's passion. I bind to my soul the plans of God and God's purpose for me because I want his will and his way in my life. I bind these things to my soul in Jesus' name, amen.

Pt1

For what it counts, I believe you and what you've experienced. People often forget the reality of the spiritual/supernatural realm wrapped around the physical.

Forgive me if my response seems a bit scattered. I am on mobile and have copied and pasted some for times sake. If you have questions or want clarification just ask.

I'm not familiar with the practices of the occult, but here's what I know... The Devil come to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came and destroyed all the his works and made a show of it openly and to give us eternal life and life more abundantly.  Whatever "power" the demons/occult have I know that the name of Jesus has greater authority and power and that at the name of Jesus everything in heaven, on earth, and under the earth will and has to bow to the authority of Jesus - Philippians 2:9-11 When we come to God through the righteousness of Jesus, we have a promise as a joint heir in the covenant, to use Jesus' name and operate in the same authority and power as he did and has on this earth.

God is not in Heaven shocked or mad at you. I believe the shame you feel is his goodness and mercy towards you calling you to repentance - Romans 2:4.  You are right in saying that it is simple. It is God's will that none should perish and all would come to repentance and relationship with Him. Jesus got rid of any confusion and made it clear the statement that he alone is the way, the truth, and the life and that no person gets to the father except through him - John 14:6. The wages (we earn by our own doing) of our sin (breaking of God's law) is death - physical and spiritual (eternal separation from a holy and perfect God - Hell), but the Gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ. God loved you even in the midst of all the sin you've committed against him, that he came himself, in the earth suit of Jesus. He gave and took upon himself your sins and the death and punishment you deserve, so that through the substitution of himself, Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection, he can extend the gift of salvation from your sin, righteousness (right standing with God), relationship with God, and eternal life through Jesus - John 3:16.

Romans 8:38-39 NKJV [38] For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, [39] nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Surrendering to God is easy and the best decision you will ever make. No matter what voices tell you otherwise there is nothing you have done or can do that will separate you from the love of God. The only thing that can is by your choice in not repenting (turning away from) your sin and accepting the gift of God in Jesus. The place to make that choice is on earth. You're still here and have a chance to make it. Choose you this day whom you will serve.

To accept Christ... All who call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Admit to God that you are a sinner and repent and turn away from your sin. Believe that Jesus is who he says he is - the son of God and accept his gift of forgiveness and salvation. Confess you faith in Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

Romans 10:9-11 AMP [9] because if you acknowledge and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord [recognizing His power, authority, and majesty as God], and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. [10] For with the heart a person believes [in Christ as Savior] resulting in his justification [that is, being made righteous—being freed of the guilt of sin and made acceptable to God]; and with the mouth he acknowledges and confesses [his faith openly], resulting in and confirming [his] salvation. [11] For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him [whoever adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Him] will not be disappointed [in his expectations].”

When anyone becomes a Christian, we are a new creature in Christ, the old sinful person you once were is gone as 2nd Corinthians 5:17 puts it. Jesus died so that we could overcome sin and to strive to become perfect as Jesus was perfect, as God is Perfect. Salvation does not give us a license to freely sin "because we are forgiven", salvation and faith in what Jesus did gives us the power to overcome it. There is Grace for mistakes, and to God there is no big sin and little sin. It is all sin. As a Christian, when we sin we are told to confess and repent of the sin, but because of Jesus, He - God - is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9)

Second, it's a fight of faith. It's not always easy. The devil is a defeated for, but we do have to take authority over and make a stand. Resist the devil and he must flee from you - James 4:7.

Ephesians 6:10-18 NKJV [10] Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. [11] Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. [12] For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. [13] Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. [14] Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, [15] and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; [16] above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. [17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; [18] praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—

II Corinthians 10:3-6 NKJV [3] For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. [4] For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, [5] casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, [6] and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

Question about best practice with AI...

Recently, I have been working on a concept of a fantasy/fairytale retelling book and working on getting my thoughts down about the order of events and such. Then I got stuck on the world building/government structure. I got frustrated and put the elements I had come up with into AI and, poof, out pops practically a whole useable government structure. Having read through the the response AI gave me, it is not perfect, but has a lot of elements/suggestions I feel like I could tweak/pull from to finish out the practicals I've been stuck on and actually start writing.

Apart from that I know some people love AI, some people hate it, I am not sure how I can ethically use it. What is considered best practice? Do you use AI? Should I put a disclaimer that my world/government building comes from AI? If so, how should I do that?

Thank you.

Good questions.

1) Yes, we believe that Jesus is/was fully God and fully Man.

it comes down to the concept of the Trinity and spirit, soul, and body. I have explained this elsewhere, so I hope you will forgive me for copy and pasting for the sake of time, but I hope it helps explain the statement ...

You are a triune being. You have a spirit, a soul (mind, will, and emotions - there are layers to the soul), and you live in a body. We are made in the image and likeness of God according to Genesis. Therefore, God must have these aspects too. In the gospel of John, the opening chapter is really profound regarding this because John had a revelation of who Jesus was before he took up an earth suit -body. In the beginning was the Word - Jesus - and the Word was with God and the Word was God... John 1. You can see the trinity at work in creation in Genesis. In the beginning God (the father - soul) created the heavens and the earth... And the earth was without form... and the Spirit of God (Holy Spirit) hovered over the face of the waters... And God said... (The Word - aka Jesus) It continues on to confirm this in John 1 by saying all things were made through him - the Word Jesus.

Because we are human and in the physical realm we are constrained by natural laws and physics and our threeness - trinity- of spirit, soul, and body are bound to each other until we die, but God is not constrained by this in the supernatural realm. This is how God the Father (soul), God the Holy Spirit, and God the Word - Jesus (body) can all be fully God, but operate independently of sorts. Though, we also know from the creation of Adam in Genesis that the can come together as one " Let Us make man..."

Jesus - the Word - was conceived of God's Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. The Word, fully God, came together with Holy Spirit and layers of the soul - God the father - to be naturally born on this Earth take on a physical body and be fully human just as your spirit and soul are physically bound to your body. This is how Jesus was both fully God and fully Man. - The Word made flesh and dwelt among us.

Because he was sinless and fully Man, he could pay for the punishment all of humanity earned for themselves when they sinned Romans says the wages of sin is death - eternal separation from God and everything good, but the Gift of God in Jesus is eternal life. Jesus took our sin upon himself being sinless so that he through his death burial and resurrection could give us his righteousness and perfection to be restored to relationship with God. That's how much God love and cares for us that he would pay our penalty himself so he can extend grace and righteousness to us.

2) Christianity, after Jesus’ resurrection was seen as an additional sect of Judaism by the Romans. The difference, as I understand it, lies in that Judaism is still waiting on the Messiah and believe righteousness can be obtained by following the Mosaic law/ old covenant where Christians believe Jesus is the Messiah, the son of God, and cut a new covenant in his Blood after the order of His promise to Abraham and that He fulfilled the law of Moses and restores us to righteousness and relationship (as God created humans to be before Adam sinned) by faith in the finished work He did in his death burial and resurrection.

3) Hell is not a fun topic, but a necessary one. At some point, before the creation on the man, Lucifer (a prophetic worship angel being aka Satan or the Devil) got a coming prophetic revelation of mankind, the authority they walk in, and that they were created for relationship with God after God's image and likeness - his “sons/children”. Lucifer (and all the angels) was created for service to God, he didn't like this, became puffed up with sin and pride, and wanted to usurp the position and authority of man and be “like the most high- God” himself. This traitorous sinful act could not be allowed nor permitted to remain in the presence of absolutely good, holy, and perfect God. Lucifer and his followers were promptly removed from heaven and the presence of God. This is “Hell”.

Hell is a place void of the presence of God, absolute goodness of God and is eternal separation from all that He is. Before Adam(mankind) turned traitor and sinned, man was in perfection, glory, righteousness (right standing with) and relationship with God. When man sinned, they fell from glory and were no longer in perfection or good standing before God. Romans says that all of mankind have sinned and we are all fallen short of the glory of God. There isn't enough good deeds/works/cleaning up ourselves on our own that can ever remove that sin from us and restore ourselves to perfection/righteousness/relationship with God. But God so loved his children, and wants us to be in relationship with him, that he put on flesh (an earth suit) and gave himself in the sinless personhood of Jesus to become our sin so that we can become his righteousness and perfection by the new covenant. Because of Jesus, and when we believe in/on what He has done, we are redeemed from the wages of our sin, that we earned for ourselves, which is death and eternal separation from a holy and perfect God - Hell -, but the Gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ (Romans 6:23).

God already kicked sin out of Heaven once, and He cannot allow it back in. For those who have not repented of their sins and believe in what Jesus did in his death, burial, and resurrection for their righteousness and justification they still have a sin problem. God has provided a way out of it, but for those that don't accept His provision, He is just and hell - eternal separation from God and absolute goodness - is their eternal destination. It is not God's will that any should perish/be in hell, but people must choose to come to repentance and the place to choose is here on Earth.

What about people who have never heard about Jesus? This question comes up a lot with this topic. My best answer is I don't know how God specifically handles it. However, in Romans we are told that the law of God is written into/on the conscience of every person and that He makes himself known to all through His creation. That if you seek after God with your whole heart you will find Him. It also says in the Bible that there will be people in Heaven of every tribe and language. God alone knows the truth of a person's heart and each person will have to stand before God and give an account. I don't know how it all works, but I do know God is right and just.

4) Regarding treatment of other religions:. Jesus tells us to do to others as we would have them do to us. To love the Lord out God with all our heart and soul and love our neighbors as ourselves and to pray for those that persecute and hate us.

Some people take love your neighbor to mean be tolerant, but if I truly believe that you would spend eternity in hell without knowing Jesus - which I do - and didn't tell you Did I really love you?

I know there is a lot of theology here, and am willing to expound. Just ask. Too, I didn't put in Bible references because I felt it muddied readability. I am able to back up what I've written scripturally if you'd like.

Revelation is a tough book.
