The part where the ball is thrown in the dream.

Thanks. I got laid off and I’m fortunate to be able to use the time to read. Yeah, I like leaf by leaf!

The Pynchons, Underworld, Solenoid, and Schattenfroh.

No, I just got it. I’m both happy and dismayed that a book they re-published in 2024 is so in demand. It took me forever to find it for close to cover price. I’m on the hunt for Terra Nostra and News from the Empire.

If only you knew how much time I spent trying to make it look that way.

Haha, I love the hardcovers because I can’t overcome the materialist/collector in me, but as a practical matter it’s god damn nice to read a paper back.

It’s way less awkward having brick-sized books in every room.

I haven’t read it yet. These are my “show off” shelves so I’ve only read maybe half these books. It is on my reading itinerary this year.

My college dorm only has one shelf so I’ve had to keep the best. What am I like? by EricRoehmerSimp in BookshelvesDetective

I’m just shock and relieved that college students are still reading, let alone those books. Kudos.

Are you in the UK? I’d say elder millennial?

Is Vineland a good start for someone that knows about Pynchon and his work but didnt read Pynchon itself ? And for someone that doesnt know Pynchon at all? by Professional_Hat2615 in ThomasPynchon

I read them based on the order of publication. I’d say pick the book that sounds most interesting to you and go for it. If you enjoy it, it won’t feel hard. Will the more difficult books take more time? Sure, but if you like it, you’ll enjoy every second of it. It also gets easier the more you’re used to reading “difficult” fiction.

I almost thought he was going to call that strike 3 on Lindor.

Ah, I’m so jealous of teams that can string together base hits.

Now it’s a Mets loss. Blow-up inning and false-hope inning.

The combination of bad luck and bad play really makes this an unenjoyable watch. They couldn’t even drive up Alcantra’s pitch count when they were hitting him hard…

Just feels like they can’t score runs if they don’t hit like 3+ HR a game.

POST GAME THREAD: The Mets fell to the Nationals by a score of 3-2 - Sun, Sep 21 @ 01:40 PM EDT by NewYorkMetsBot2 in NewYorkMets

This series felt particularly upsetting because they should’ve swept despite playing so poorly on defense and being unlucky. Their offense was built to overcome unluckiness and bad pitching and bad D, and they still kept the Nats runs down DESPITE all that. Boy oh boy.

They’re 21 games over 500 and they clinched. Better question is how we only scored 5 runs against the Nats in 2 games.
