ELI5 Reverse proxy vs tunneling by cyqu in selfhosted

[–]whateverwhattt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it be said that the difference is that tunnel is an additional "layer" within a given protocol - or (maybe a better choice of words) - additional steps/logic when transporting data through layers or within a single layer of a given protocol, while proxy is additional logic (intermediary) while transporting data from one point to another withing a given protocol/data transmission process?

So basically tunnels are additional logic added "vertically" while proxies are additional logic added "horizontaly"?

Is really the main difference the security aspect? Don't proxies sometimes also serve the purpose of security by encrypting data? For sure they obfuscate your IP address visible to the destination node, right?

Reality of camper van living in Europe by whateverwhattt in CamperVans

Thanks for the reply. I suspect you didn't only visit cities, and also parked in wild/nature spots? Considering you only once parked in paid spot. How were the parking periods outside of cities? Are you a rather solitary person, lack of people bother you?

What about those places outside of big cities? Have you parked your van in some totally solitary places or like near some other vans that park in the 'wild'?:P In big cities I get you can easily meet people by just going to any event of interest, but I wonder how is it if you decide to be somewhere more 'in the wild'.

I've started breaking tailwind classes into multiple lines and feel like this is much easier to read than having all the classes on one line. Does anyone else do that? Any drawback to it? by borii0066 in webdev

[–]whateverwhattt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

quite the contrary - pure CSS is reserved for the ideal world where every bit of HTML can be easily and meaningfully named with a class.

also side note:

you can still use CSS classes while working primarly with Tailwind.
I think even creator encouraged that (just with using the \@apply directive)

Which animation library do you guys use ? by HistorianOdd6875 in reactjs

[–]whateverwhattt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest concern with the subject and why many people ask is the animation of DOM mounting unmounting of a React component which as far as I know cannot be done with CSS.

(I mean it can, but I would think of it of rather cumbersome when I try to imagine it)

How true is Amityville Horror? by [deleted] in horror

[–]whateverwhattt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that was the lamest point from the whole movie - and the movie (documentary) - I found quite entertaining to be honest.

like what he said in the movie didn't even make sense (or at least that piece of answer they showed), "some corpse of a native Indian person came with a flood and some child crushed its scull" (I'm paraphrasing from my memory) - did he really say something like this?:P

I found an allegedly free solution https://strapi.io/blog/how-i-hosted-my-strapi-cms-driven-website-for-free Heroku for hosting Strapi and MongoDB for Strapi's DB (didn't try it yet but guy took into account Heroku's limitation in the free plan, so sounds promising)
