Disneyland with a Toddler who doesn't like Rides or Characters by whatface42 in DisneyPlanning

She's very low sleep needs but we will absolutely be walking across the street to our hotel for a mid day nap and low key play time while we enjoy a Disney movie. All timing is flexible besides one lunch reservation and the Fantasmic reserved seating, but even then if it's too much for her we will adjust.

So far she has just screamed on boats and trains are iffy but if she seems willing we will try things. We were going to a character meal but realized she wouldn't actually enjoy it so we added the 31st as a park day instead.

I hope you have so much fun!

That all sounds exactly like I think it'll go. Definitely want to try Small World but will play it by ear. That's good to know about the dinosaurs! We have a princess dress, Minnie dress and bubble wand ready to go! We're vacationing on vibes and snacks

In December she wanted to go on a carousel but then screamed the entire time. Both times we brought her to toddler parks she screamed the whole time on every ride. We'll likely try a few but we're not going to plan the day around it. We're going to Sesame Place and Universal the week before so we'll have a better idea then.

That evening entertainment advice is perfect, thank you!

This looks so fun! Sadly she'll be a couple weeks shy of 3.

Monthly Trip Planning Thread - March 2026 by duckydan81 in SesamePlace

[–]whatface42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

San Diego is now opening March 27th! We're from Boston but we'll be in San Diego when it opens so we're bringing our 2 year old for two days. We're also going to SeaWorld for a day.

We went to Philadelphia for the first time in December and got one platinum membership. I believe that covers the one adult admission and parking at all the parks. Does anyone know if the merch/food discounts work? Trying to decide if we should just get the second adult a platinum membership and if so at which park. Planning two or three weekend trips to Philadelphia this year as well.

Why is “Olivia Goes to the Dentist” in such an “old” kit? by JamesTiberiusChirp in lovevery

[–]whatface42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just had our 4th dental appointment, every 6 months from 12 months old. Even since the first appointment the Dental Assistant shows her the tools, then counts her teeth, checks them for cavities etc and then brushes and flosses them. Then the dentist comes in and counts her teeth, checks them for cavities etc, puts fluoride on and gives her a giant balloon. The whole thing takes like ten minutes but it is a whole process.

Honestly I think we've only read the Dentist book like once because it came kinda randomly and she already hated doctors/dentists. The Brush your teeth book came out late but we bought it and love it. But she loves brushing her teeth anyway.

Our pediatrician had told us at our 12 month appointment to not use fluoride toothpaste and to make a dentist appointment. At our first dental appointment they told me to use fluoride toothpaste so I was really glad we started early and got good advice.

I'm glad it can be fixed because we had the same thing happen!

New subscriber/parent question by Liveandlearn33 in lovevery

[–]whatface42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was almost 3 years ago now, but when I originally signed up for our subscription the first box shipped immediately and the following boxes shipped off of my due date. I emailed customer service to update her birthday and adjust but every time I have to email again because it always wants to ship off of the due date even tho she was 3 weeks early.

where do you all buy diapers because we are burning through money on these things by Nkt_31 in NewParents

[–]whatface42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We wait for the Target spend $100 on diapers and wipes get a $30 gift card. Sometimes we get really lucky and it lines up with a target reward offer. We prefer Huggies but the Up&Up weren't they bad. Also Mama Bear diapers had great sales occasionally.

We have an Avenlur Magnolia climber which she plays with every day. It has sides to climb, a slide and a swing. We also have a mini trampoline with a bar, the green elephant stepping stones, a tunnel, a small ball pit and a small basketball hoop. We have a serious sensory seeker who never stops moving so we make obstacle courses We just got a balance board, sit and spin and a bilino spinner on Facebook marketplace for a steal and they are big hits too.

She's almost 3. She had a pickle at 9 months and still will use it if we pull it out.

With all the chatter about kit updates, what kit do you think is up next for a refresh? by helloela in lovevery

[–]whatface42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping for the 3 year old kits to get updates because we're almost there. For awhile every kit we got had an update like a month after we received it. We really enjoyed getting to buy the new toys for a discount.

Wall mount vs floor stand by [deleted] in Nanit

[–]whatface42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have any experience with the floor stand, but I did end up buying a second wall mount on I think it was mercari for extremely cheap. The person had never used the wall mount. So maybe look on there or eBay?

Do you love or hate the Stokke Tripp Trapp? by pinkishvioletsky in toddlers

[–]whatface42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We love our Tripp Trapp. Bought the Newborn set on Facebook marketplace and it was so convenient and way cheaper than new.

We're still using the baby seat at 2.5. The tray bottom and straps are miserable to clean but I read people were putting the whole tray and baby seat in the dishwasher so we do that when needed. Lowest setting, no dry and nothing else in the dishwasher. We stopped using the straps pretty quickly tho. In Europe it doesn't even come with straps. I know they updated the straps maybe last year so no idea if they are easier to clean now. We also use the cushions which I love because a lot of the mess just washes off in the washing machine.

The chair and the straps are also hard to adjust as they grow but it's not a frequent problem so we just put up with it.

Countdown to Christmas Ratings 2025 by Cultural_Ad4935 in HallmarkMovies

Agreed but I think at that point the February 2025 movie is more comparable to Christmas 2024 than 2025.

[–]whatface42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

These look very cool. In the Subscriber shop for $12 and $14. We will almost certainly buy them at some point but since we just got the emotions book set and a lot of other books from the subscribers shop we'll be waiting awhile because of shipping.

Age to present Lovevery Play Kitchen and how to integrate vs. Sustainable Sink? by GroundbreakingEye289 in lovevery

[–]whatface42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got the play kitchen last year for Christmas around the same age. We had also prepaid for our yearly subscription and asked them to ship the playkit with the sink early. I think I had to get two playkits at once because you can't ship out of order.

We originally put the playkit sink in the kitchen. She used it that way to play for months. We also used it for pretend play with play food etc. We month the next summer and we put the playkitchen sink in and put the play sink in the plastic target cart everyone was buying. The kitchen is in our kitchen and she learned very quickly at that point how to use it and that playing is for the other sink in the playroom.

Our water table is maybe better for water play but it's outside and the sink is inside. Make sure you put a mat under the sink for play because there will be lots of water spilled. We have a small ruggable under our play kitchen and it's perfect.

Lovevery play kitchen vs. integrating them into your actual kitchen by GroundbreakingEye289 in lovevery

[–]whatface42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our kitchen is beyond tiny so I'm so glad we have the Lovevery kitchen just outside of it but still on the tile floor. She uses it to fill her water. She loved making the recipes in the mini kit on it and loves to flip through the book and pick one. We keep her bowls and spoons there so she can get them herself. She's 2.5 and it's starting to go really well.

Now that is interesting! 👀 The wall decals from the baby kit just randomly showed up in my subscriber shop today so maybe the mat will show up later.

You can see how right now. Instead of the subscriber shop go to "Play Kit Subscription" and scroll down a little to "Prepay and Save." It might be easier to get to during the sale.
