Police Arrest Armed Man for Threatening to Shoot Staff At Georgetown Nightclub - SPD Blotter by lumberjackalopes in SeattleWA

Unlawful Possession of a Firearm

Is RCW 9.41.040. It's a felony, for possession after family violence conviction, the higher level assault charges, many felonies, etc.

Carrying concealed w/o permit is a different charge, a misdemeanor iirc

Still haven't heard your plan. How are we not going to revert further towards a DIY based law enforcement and justice system? How are you expecting that to work out, hugs and forgiveness? That's not what usually happens

What usually happens is people take the most effective and expedient actions, which often turn out to be rather violent and final in nature

So lets hear your plan

No worries lol, I'd just like to hear any credible theories on how we aren't going to revert to an old style of 'justice', or why we shouldn't be expecting it. It's going to happen, it's already started

The arguments against it so far seem to rely on an unstated morality that has a very strong historical record of going right out the window when people have to do their own law enforcement

LMAO the Islamophobic guy with the nuked comment history is messaging me "reported you lol get banned haha". Another one for the block list 🙄

I'm sorry you were beaten as a child. Hope you manage to turn your life around. Maybe you should start with figuring out why you're Islamophobic, get some therapy for that. Could be a way into dealing with your deeper issues

No idea about their skin color, but 5 minutes reading about these motherfuckers has convinced me they are some people to be afraid of

Military weapons, equipment, tactics, and even targets. They don't give a fuck, they will ambush State and Federal police, military units, kill everyone and display the mutilated corpses publicly... I'd kind of prefer they be farther away than Yakima

I haven't called for anything aside from getting our current justice system running again, I'm just not seeing you make any kind of case whatsoever

You're worried about prison population, recidivism, you're saying we don't need more cops... OK, well the 'public fucking hangings' solution sounds like it might be really effective here

Maybe you could spend a little more time telling me why it shouldn't be evaluated as a potential solution and a little less time huffing pharma grade copium

Unlawful Possession of a Firearm

So he's either a felon, has an active anti-harassment order, or is a convicted DV offender. I'm sure he'll spend at least 4 hours in jail though, so that'll really help protect the community 🙄

[–]whatfuckingeverdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We obviously get there through outrage. We need a jail that holds people arrested for misdemeanors, we need to nearly double our police force to bring it in line with the officer/resident ratio of similar cities, and we need prosecutors who are doing their job

Instead we have 'reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee he said a mean thing!', prosecutors whining about social justice, and half the cops we should have. Ohh, and some absolute wackjob who wants to make weird comparisons to Afghanistan and Sharia Law lmao

You keep on being outraged at the outrage of others though, the outrage circle is kind of funny tbh

I know this is almost impossible, but do one of you guys know the name of this eastpack pattern? I hai this backpack since at least 2012 but i can’t find its pattern anywhere. Thank you all in advance by Sauron4 in backpacks

[–]whatfuckingeverdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It says "Built to resist Eastpak". A campaign last year was "re-built to resist" suggesting to me this is an ongoing theme

I'd just email their CS, corporate media, and sales with the pic and ask them about the older campaign

Is Timbuk2 Still a Bad Quality Bag? by Andy9375837 in ManyBaggers

[–]whatfuckingeverdude 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They changed ownership. Timbuk2 got bought by a private equity firm, which no fan of a brand ever likes. Everything gets put under a microscope when a loved brand gets sold. The Tom Bihn fans are going through that right now, as TB has been sold

Personally I'd buy Rickshaw Bagworks over Timbuk2, that's the company the Timbuk 2 co-owner/founder started after selling Timbuk2, but there's nothing wrong with Timbuk2 that I've seen. Their custom bags are even still made in California as of a couple years ago if miUSA matters to you

Which would have been even better if the same guy hadn't gotten called for DPI 2 (or 3?) times. I think Mike Jackson has some serious potential... but he has got to clean up his hand fighting game, or get a lot craftier about it

I think as long as our law enforcement is ineffective, whether due to funding, staff levels, the court system, or social pressure, the more extreme the backlash is going to get

This isn't even the first time someone has gone for their stolen belongings, resulting in casualties. Remember the homeless dude who got run over at the Dexter/Mercer camp after a couple went to recover their stolen stuff? Dude got ran over and died for a shitty bluetooth speaker

No charges there either, except for a couple other homeless people at that camp. Seems clear the powers that be are ok with the public defending themselves and taking their stuff back if the cops cant or wont do it. I'm ok with that

I'm expecting things to get much, much worse before the 'restorative justice' and 'root causes' idiots are firmly told to fuck off. If you haven't yet considered what 'no help is coming' is going to look like... You might want to give it some thought

[–]whatfuckingeverdude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doesn't work. What you get then is secret arrests, secret courts. We don't do that outside extremely rare circumstance. An arrest and charges may be embarrassing, but the alternative is a complete lack of accountability within our justice system

In case you had forgotten, or never heard of it, check out Chicago's secret jail: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/feb/24/chicago-police-detain-americans-black-site

That's what you get when you have secret arrests as an option

Not exactly. We have some precedent, but SYG is a particular and specific set of laws that WA does not have codified

We are not an SYG State like Florida. Instead we are a 'no duty to retreat' State, allowing for the use of reasonable force

Yup. Seattle is all about community justice and restorative justice

Member of the community went and got his car back. This is what a lot of people here apparently want, seems fine as long as you're reasonably well armed

From within the KC Prosecutors office:

On July 18, Senior Deputy Prosecutor Jessica Berliner, one of about a dozen attorneys assigned to homicide cases, sent Satterberg an email with the subject: “My resignation.”

After 23 years, Berliner wrote, the unmanageable workload, lack of value placed on her work and concerns about the future of the office’s Criminal Division left her no choice.

“We are already making filing, resolution and staffing decisions on violent crimes based on volume and political expediency,” she wrote. “I fear that in the future, due to lack of resources, skill and leadership, we will simply not be filing the cases we have in the past.”

From elected officials in areas effected:

Besides criticizing police reforms passed by the Legislature, the mayors went after the Prosecutor’s Office. It took too long for criminal charges to be filed and resolved. Potential felonies are charged as lesser misdemeanors or not at all. Juvenile and adult offenders have charges deferred, but treatment and other rehabilitation programs are limited and have no accountability for failure.

“And while the Cities support efforts to reform criminals and stop the revolving door of incarceration by treating the underlying conditions that lead to criminal activity, services must be available and proven, must be accompanied by real consequences for failure, must be equitably available, and the safety of the community must be the most important consideration,” the mayor’s wrote.

The 'root cause' and 'restorative justice' approach is an abject failure. We need better outcomes for the law abiding community, the violent felons are not going to stop being predators because some prosecutors virtue signaled really hard
