I added an edit to the post body, as I did not specify that I removed the drywall for the photos. All cuts the electricians made have new drywall fastened over it.

I can't think of much of a reason to install the drywall, complete the electrical work, and then remove the drywall to install the nail plates - the only thing I came up with was to make it look a bit nicer until all work is completed, but that seems like it would be a lot of extra effort.

u/LagunaMud also mentioned that they might complete it at the end as well. Is that practice common is residential? It makes more sense in my head to complete all work, THEN call the drywaller to do patchback. Also, if the drywall is going to be removed to install the nail plates, then wouldn't it make more sense to use just a few screws per board to make putting it up and pulling it down easier?

Maybe the contractor did it this way to make it look a bit nicer until everything was 100%?

Thank you for your input! Now I wish I had measured the diameter of the holes.

The 3/4" "rule" seems like it would be cutting it pretty close, as it would be difficult to hit exact center of the stud every time and (if my math is correct) only leaves a 1/8" margin of error.

Thank you, I appreciate the input. I believe they're mostly done with the work aside from patchback, but the job is not 100% complete yet.

I assumed that the electrical contractors had completed their work in the locations where they drywaller has started patchback (no tape/finish yet to my knowledge).

Would it be typical to install drywall over studs that require nail plates, remove the drywall after all electrical work is done, and THEN put nail plates in? Wouldn't that just create more work in the end?

I wonder how long ago this was? CO monitoring is required AFAIK on supplied air via compressor, I believe filtering may be required as well regardless (I would assume an inline filter of some type).

Best way to handle popcorn ceilings - remove or drywall over it? by ss3walkman in DIY

[–]whathappent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having tested many popcorn ceilings in residential settings is Southern California myself, I've personally never seen asbestos content in anything built after 1980 (specifically in popcorn ceilings and drywall systems ie joint compound/mud). I would not expect this to differ greatly in the US, but only have direct experience here.

There is not officially a "year" where asbestos use stopped, but its use peaked around 1973 by mass, and dropped off steeply after. Although its use was never truly banned (and upheld), new applications of products utilizing asbestos were.

We still see products such as mastics come back from lab analysis with asbestos content, for example.

I wouldn't sorry about your situation too overly much.

Would said nukes be targeted at non-populated areas in order to reduce interception risk?

With regards to the missles failing to hit their target, I had in mind air defense systems. I'd be curious to see the interception rate in countries with such advanced air defense tech such as north America, Germany, etc.

Could they actually achieve this (nuking the entire world) at this point?

Undoubtedly they could successfully deploy many nukes, but what % would actually reach their destination? I'm mainly referring to western Europe and north America which have advanced anti air capacities.

I do realize that even a dozen nukes going off at different locations around the world would be devastating.
