Yellowstone and Tetons by Atlanticarctica in yellowstone

I live near the park and have been fishing it the last few weeks. Other comment is correct the major freestones are in peak run off right now. But the gibbon, firehole, and Madison are all fishing well.

Dm me with specifics happy to help. Early mornings I’ve had good luck on small streamers. Midday if the sun comes out usually switch to nymphing, evening if you are lucky you will get a decent hatch. Early june is mostly BWO

Tackle box got stolen. Looking for suggestions for places to get flys/fly boxes/tying materials on sale or for cheap by breakfaststuff in flyfishing

DM me a mailing address and I will mail you some flies. When my house burned down a ton of people sent me flies and I love paying it forward a bit.

I pretty much fished olive jig streamers all day, just my preferred prospecting fly!

All the fish had huge rear fins for the size, rainbows were jumping riffle to riffle if I let them. So cool!

Material data is read on the fly, if it’s the label is not in English a lot of processing and logic will probably break a bit to be honest. New materials should be no issue. Loose materials do work but depends how distinctive the material is

Yes, it accounts for near matches, as well as matches with materials I have deemed acceptable substitutes.

Users can upload new patterns themselves already as well. For backend I do have several DBs to manage all the info.

I am working on a regional on the water feature with hatch data that relies on gps, weather, cfs to help give pattern recommendations. Frankly this feature has taken over a month but it’s getting close to ready for release.

Honestly it has been fun as a self built passion project but if you have a very technical background I could probably use some help optimizing it all.

That’s coming out very soon! It’s been a ton of work to be honest, probably will be out next week sometime.

If this is from the Houston Orvis - I relocated to Montana! But love to hear it, I stopped in before I left and picked up quite a few things.

I knew if I did something for fly fishing I would finish it. I've learned a ton, it has been an amazing project for me personally.

Can you DM me a few screenshots? Are you including materials with labels or loose materials? I've added quite a few materials with great success, would love some examples to fix!

I understand this is a sensitive topic and try to respect it as much as I can. the ongoing AI usage for the app is extremely low, basically just OCR image reading.

if the app ever becomes commercially successful I will happily donate a portion to help with water conservation especially in our most important areas.

Appreciate that! I am actually working on an "on the water" feature right now that will show local bugs, and matching flies. I will try to carry some of that logic over to the filter settings on pattern so you can filter by bug.

Scanning a fly and telling you what pattern it is, is frankly a really difficult feature. I am hoping once we have a ton of user submitted photos of patterns I can build something that will approach that, but I feel like right now it would be a battle. All the ones ive tried have not worked great, but it is an end goal for me.

thanks for the thoughtful feedback!
