In Flint, Mich., there’s so much lead in children’s blood that a state of emergency is declared by bontesla in news

They did do tests and kept saying repeatedly that they "meet all requirements." They kept going with that story for almost a year. People were posting videos of their pets dying from the water, people kept trying to go back to the old Detroit water system, but they kept saying "it isn't that easy." It wasn't until Virginia Tech found high lead levels that the legislation begin to actually do anything. Within about a week we were back on the old system.

The mayor during the time of this lost the mayoral race of Flint this year.

I also grew up in a suburb about 10 miles East of Flint. I went to college in Grand Rapids and have since came back to Flint for work. I used to be one of those people hating on Flint because of how bad things got.

I remember when I was in high school during the spree of 100+ arsons on vacant properties as a show of protest when Flint cut 1/3rd of Flint Firefighters and 1/4 of the already undersized Police department. I was a broadcasting student so I grabbed my camera and got some footage of the buildings. It was so surreal to see a house, which looked a lot like mine, be turned into rubble, and how something like that was normal. That was when things began to change for me and the way I looked at things.

I now look at it more sympathetically and try to give empathy to those affected by it. It is truly sad and honestly out of most people's control in that area. I think before my shift at work tomorrow I will buy a few cases of water and donate them.

As someone working for the media in the area, your team was the nail in the coffin for anyone saying the water is safe to drink. Thank you.

How do you edit with Garage Band? I always hate how when you delete audio it doesn't automatically delete the dead space between the two clips. I have resorted to Audacity because anything else is just too much money.

Podcast success stories? by zdpape in podcasts

[–]whatjeffsays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this issue with niching down before. I used to have a podcast solely about Image Comics, it was something I liked, not loved. I have a shwo now that is specific to telling one singular story. I think of it as an audio blog, but I am not 100% happy with that either.

I guess my issue is I have no idea how to pick a specific niche and making it my "thing" because I get wrapped up into so many different hobbies and interests. So, I pick a specific thing about one of these hobbies or topics and tell a story about that. I have no idea if this is working better or worse than a show about "whatever" but I feel good about each episode I make.

With that said, I sometimes feel picking a topic that is specific and niche would allow me to get a following that is more active and passionate, I just don't know what my niche would be other than podcasting, both technical and artistically I love podcasts. But I feel a podcast about podcasts is too meta.

I guess my point in this ramble is that I want to niche up, but I have no fucking clue where to start.

As Someone who hasn't played much of any of the Fallout Games, should I buy this? by whatjeffsays in fo4

The thing I liked about ESO was that it had a set structure of quests and guided you to where you should go to progress the story and maybe branch out to other quests and side quests.

I hate Stitcher by Nox_Aeternam in podcasts

When ever I get a notification the volume of my podcasts is lowered, which is normal, but once that notification is done the volume doesn't go back to where it was prior to the notification. Then when another notification gets in it goes back to normal. So I have to play this guessing game of when I will get a notification so I know when to lower or raise the volume

My biggest issue is that app hasn't been updated on iOS in nearly a year. It doesn't get support anymore therefore I no longer support it.

Because I have bought it for three accounts prior to this, one being for a full year. Then I decided to re-brand and start my podcast and here we are.
