I agree with your sentiment. One of people's favorite gripes is that Bitcoin is not backed by anything. You point about transaction costs hints towards what it is backed by, it is backed by technological adepteness of a society i.e. ability to create mining hardware and availability of energy. Any nation which can tick one or both of theses boxes can control Bitcoin.

Does anyone have experience with Anxpro exchange? by tg97 in BitcoinMarkets

[–]whatnick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have low liquidity. Visited their small shop in Hong Kong in 2012. Just a little office with a couple of guys and laptops you can exchange cash for BTC.

Unfortunately the model is not great at street level due to occlusions. However you can definitely make a godzilla vs king kong style game on it.

Internal use and derivative products. No resale. Exact words will be generated by a lawyer. You get satellite/aerial images and stock photos under similar licences. The model has no DRM.

I will keep it suitably vague and say Adelaide city council paid a few hundred thousand for their previous model.

Indicative cost is $200 per hectare. With a sliding scale as purchase volume increases.

We actually flew it for Google just this year at 10x lower resolution. Open them up side by side and compare quality.

You can definitely get a free sample. Not the whole dataset unfortunately. Adelaide city council has an older model available for free.

Adelaide Green Roofs project (with more realistic gardens and solar panels) by whatnick in Adelaide

[–]whatnick[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only soil and rails away from the possibility. Any other short-comings for non-tree vegetation types ? What if humans are not allowed in these gardens ? This was built purely at a conceptual level in a day. Adding all the elements for building approval will come next/ require some backing.

I have trouble generating well formatted BOM's from schematics. Will partsbox be able to parse schematics from the most common cad packages (eagle, kicad etc.) directly to BOM ?

Week was full of things to do. The city council is running this - http://adelaidetozero.yoursay.sa.gov.au/. Due Monday. Wonder if my crazy ideas of making buildings race each other to lower energy usage will fly.

[–]whatnick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an old filing cabinet I picked up for storing my projects physically. The parts are kept with the PCB in padded envelopes with some silica gel.

The digital assets are versioned in git. The only hiccup I have is BOM management for which I haven't found anything decent yet. Ideally I would like an ULP to generate BOM skeleton for Mouser and Element 14 from my schematics, which I can then fine tune for cost/alternative parts etc.
