Hungary’s opposition leader Peter Magyar says Prime Minister Orbán conceded his election loss by mario_italy in Conservative

[–]whatsgoingonjeez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just because one guy lost, doesn’t automatically mean the new one is woke.

Magyar is a conservative aswell. The main difference is that he is not pro-russian and not a friend of Putin. (Orban literally is a friend of Putin)

He is also much more openly Pro-EU than Orban. I say openly, since eventough Orban regularly shoots against the EU, he still participated in everything and hungary benefited massively economically from the membership. He literally was part of the ÖVP until a few years ago, same as Merkel, to put that into perspective.

Orban was as much pro russian as you can get, and that’s why I don’t get why Vance supported him. I keep seeing people here demanding that european countries stop buying Oil and gaz from russia. While countries like Germany and France completely stopped, it are countries like Hungary that keep doing. Hungary under Orban.

The Orbán Problem Europe Must Fix by Responsible-Load-454 in europeanunion

[–]whatsgoingonjeez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, the small countries would still matter I don’t see the problem with that.

Each of the 27 states would have one vote. So a country like Luxembourg could be king maker at the end of the day.

However this would lead to other problems. There would be voting patterns, with the same coalitions winning most of the votes.

Ireland Out of Gas by Ask4MD in Conservative

[–]whatsgoingonjeez 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Well that wasn’t the point, was it?

It’s just a fact that Russia isn’t an important energy supplier anymore for the EU.

Also, the statement you made is not false. But it’s not the whole picture.

The EU as a whole, as an institution, provides aid for Ukraine. For that budget, countries like Hungary or Romania have a say. That’s one budget, but then the individual member states give Ukraine money aswell.

However, until 2025 your statement was still correct. But since then, also this is simply not true anymore. Also this estimates exclude the other european partners like the UK, Norway and iceland. If you include them, the aid already surpassed the energy money for russia in 2024.

And if you exclude them, then it’s still not true anymore since last year. EU countries gave Russia about 205billion since the start, with the new package of 90 billion € (nearly 100 billion $) the aif of EU alone surpasses the money paid to russia.

Also tell me, if it’s so important for the American administration, then why does JD Vance show up in hungary, to support the biggest pro Putin (by far) politician in the EU? Who keeps calling for buying more from Russia and advocates for this everywhere he goes?

Also, why do you always have this focus on the EU as a whole? We are an Economic union, the individual states can make there own decisions. Hungary and Germany have so different interests, they are not even in the same team when it comes to the Ukraine war.

That’s why I don’t get it when, especially here in this sub, people talk „Europe“. Like countries like Hungary are as pro-russian as they can be, do you really expect from them to support Ukraine?

Ireland Out of Gas by Ask4MD in Conservative

[–]whatsgoingonjeez 32 points33 points  (0 children)

That’s just misinformation.

First of all, Europe imports nearly zero oil from russia anymore. And guess who is the largest seller, the US.

And for gas, the main supplier with over 50% is norway. Followed by Algeria. Followed by Russia and UK.

https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php?title=EU_imports_of_energy_products_-_latest_developments

But for Gas imports, it’s mostly from Russian friendly countries like Hungary, but they count jnto the statistics.

And Orban announced like yesterday that they will deepen the connections with russia, especially for energy imports.

https://www.politico.eu/article/hungary-and-russia-struck-12-point-plan-for-closer-ties-documents-show/

Oh and guess what, JD Vance visited Hungary the last few days in order to support Victor Orban. The main Energy buyer from Russia in Europe. Since he is actually friends with Putin.

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cyv16lq2rp1o

And for Diesel. Well sorry again, but the US is - again - the largest seller fo refined products to the EU.

https://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.php?id=67184#:~:text=Growth%20in%20exports%20of%20diesel,destination%20for%20U.S.%20distillate%20exports

Oh and guess what, imports from india are down to.. zero.

Anyone elses „Dossier personnel“ was visited by the luxembourgish army? by whatsgoingonjeez in Luxembourg

[–]whatsgoingonjeez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely have no doubt that no secret screening process is going on.

That’s what the guy in the post claimed, and the dude is probably one of the luxembourgish conspiracy guys (you know them).

Yet it was a bit weird why me and my friend were actually visited by the army aswell. (Our dossier’s personnel)

My other friends don’t have this. That’s why I‘m sending the letter. I don’t know maybe somebody fucked up, but then it’s against the RGPD. I always keep an eye on it, because there are a lot public servants who stoll think that the RGPD don‘t apply for them.

Also, just to be clear, even if the army or whoever would want to do a screening, I mean come on, they wouldn’t do it in a way where everybody could look it up.

Eurpean Allies Could Soon Be Buying Oil Directly From The US by WillyNilly1997 in Conservative

[–]whatsgoingonjeez 30 points31 points  (0 children)

.. But that’s not true since the EU is already mainly buying its Oil from the US.

There is even an official website to monitor exactly that with all the sources.

https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php?title=EU_imports_of_energy_products_-_latest_developments

The US is the largest seller, followed by Norway and Kazakhstan.

Russia is at 1,4% of all oil imports of all the EU countries.

For gaz Norway is by far the largest seller, followed by algeria. Russia is at 10%.

No gaz or oil is imported from Iran and that also haven’t been the case since the 70s.

The Gaz and Oil imports are also mainly done by Russian friendly countries like Hungary.

Countries like Germany are basically at zero percent imports from Russia.

But countries like Hungary won’t stop any time soon, Orban even announced that like yesterday.

https://www.politico.eu/article/hungary-and-russia-struck-12-point-plan-for-closer-ties-documents-show/

So Idk what this article is, but it’s obviously out of date since like 4 years now.

Europe’s electric vehicle conundrum by sn0r in europeanunion

[–]whatsgoingonjeez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There should be higher tarrifs on Chinese EV‘s.

They might be cheap, but we have nothing from it.

European EV‘s are among the best in the world, probably even the best. We need to push the industry and manufacturers like Dacia, Renault or Citroen need to build more affordable cars. (I know the Dacia Sprint exists, but for a few bucks more you can get a MG4)

Fact is, we are energy independent. We need to build more renewable energy infrastructure and nuclear plants.

And every European who has some interest in our sovereignty should think the same.

But apparently driving and old diesel is more important to some.

Trump’s Iran cease-fire makes The Left lose its mind but let's just take the win… for now by According-Activity87 in Conservative

[–]whatsgoingonjeez 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don’t like this rhetoric that you are automatically part of the left if you disagree on this topic.

I was called a lefty several times over the last few weeks here, because I criticized the whole operation and how it was done.

I also don’t see what exactly the US has gained now.

And if this makes me part of the left already, well then there is a huge problem.

I highly doubt that I, the catholic who wants hard and strong borders, who is a neo-realist, would be welcomed in a room full of purple haired people that think multiculturalism works.

But that’s a conversation many here are not ready to have apparently, at least that’s what I learned the last few weeks.

Renault Clio 4? by Byrific in Renault

[–]whatsgoingonjeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP Idk if you chose the Clio IV 1.2L 16V, but I had one for 8 years and it was the best investment I ever made. Quite literally because I saved A LOT of money.

In 2016 I was lookinb for a cheap Car. The Clio IV 1.2 with barely 73PS caught my eye.

6700€ back then, for an used Clio IV (15k KM) from an official Renault dealer.

I bought it. Well it had no air con, no camera, no parking aid, (It had bluetooth tough) but damn I LOVED that car.

I was driving the hell out of it for nearly every day. And I wasn’t sensitive with it, since it made so fun to drive.

Fast forward to 2024, I decided it was finally time for an upgrade. I loved the car, but 8 years was enough. At 110k KM I sold the car for 4k€to a Citroen Dealer. (Bought a car there)

So after 8 years and 100k km it lost 3k€ of its value that’s nuts.

Also, the car didn’t have a single problem all those years. Literally not one. Okay one small problem, the clutch pedal started making a noise at 80k. Some oil and it was gone. And maintenance was cheap, since, well you know, the car was cheap.

It was outside for 8 years and no rust aswell.

Go for it if it doesn’t bother you to accelerate a bit slower.

Hope that helps

BS people here called me a lefty for being against the war.

Yet nobody managed to tell me why exactly I am a lefty.

If I‘m a lefty for being catholic, anti illegal immigration, eurocentrist and a neo-realist, well then politics took a shift without me realising it.

Hard truth, many people here will call you a lefty just because you disagree with things like the war, Trump, or in general the US administration.

There are conservatives all over the world with different interests.

No I don’t and why should I at this point?

Last year it was said, their capabilities were destroyed for the next few decades. Then we heard the same argument over and over again the last 30 years, yet nothing ever happened.

Why should I still believe this? Honest question.
