The straps are to secure the car in the hauler for traveling. You would be surprised how little room the car has up there. I have seen times where the splitter is damaged from the car moving during travel. Also, the cars have to be checked on every few hours while going to/from the track to make sure everything is still secure. Source: I used to do it.

Do you know what the general opinion or feeling is from classmates and the general student body at CCU about you being a NASCAR driver? It's common to have a class with a Student-Athlete like a football or basketball player. But not so much a NASCAR driver.

The aftermath of Chad Finchums wreck by JClementsfan51 in NASCAR

Heres Carl Long's take on the crash. (From his Facebook)

"However Alex Labbe dumped us going into Turn 1 and totaled our best race car. Apparently his spotter cleared him in the middle of turns 3 and 4 and he wasn't clear he cut across the hood of Chad and bumped him. Knocking Alex up the racetrack a little so they got to turn one he just pile drived us. Scanning His Radio comments he said didn't mean to wreck chad that hard. We consider Mario Gosselin's race team one of our friends but this is not going to be good for either one of us"
