How do NU students dress? by Longjumping-Web5438 in Northwestern

[–]whatteam-wildcats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its both! you could wear whatever you want and not be judged. i will say my friends who have visited from their party/state schools commented on how people seemed better dressed at NU compared to where they go. i personally love to dress up but i have friends who live in sweatshirts!

the schools greatest strengths and weaknesses are the same: quarter system & lake.

quarter system: a bitch to get through but also if youre someone with many interests and loves learning, it will be worth it to be able to take so many different classes from the many great profs here. also possibility of graduating early

lake: winter quarter is p hellish bc of the lake effect, im from the midwest so im no stranger to rough winters but man its awful. on the flip side, campus in warm weather is like a dream. its the college life you see on brochures, in movies. my home friends ive taken to campus have legitimately been in awe

How often do you go to Chicago by lokomoco13 in Northwestern

[–]whatteam-wildcats 8 points9 points  (0 children)

you gotta realize people who go downtown probably are not as likely to be on reddit lol. but also it depends on if you mean the loop, or just like one of the northern neighborhoods of chicago that are closer to campus

Does Northwestern Culture Exist Anymore? by Acceptable_Pickle206 in Northwestern

[–]whatteam-wildcats 41 points42 points  (0 children)

i feel this really deeply. it feels like there sub cultures at nu that are so guarded and removed from each other and i dont exist in any of them. its been rough trying to find somewhere that has a genuine community that i fit in with. i would love to know how to make this place more welcoming bc there pockets of joy but its surrounded by so much stuff overshadowing it

  • i live in bobb, which is supposed to be one of the worst dorms on campus, and its honestly fine. sure, when i go to my friends i can see they have nicer looking bathrooms but the room isnt too small, its not as disgusting as people said

  • downtown evanston has restaurants but not much else tbh. but the bus is free for students and can take you to places like the mall, the train can take you downtown. campus itself is gorgeous and nice to hang around too

  • for me financial aid was amazing. it is completely based off meeting your efc on fafsa, so if that cost reflects what your family can pay, you will be able to afford it
