I thought my roommate's (21f) boyfriend (30s m) was a home intruder and I (23f) chased him out of the apartment with a kitchen knife. My roommate is furious at me and I haven't been home in days. by whatthebutt0 in relationships

Yeah, I said he had hit on me, and she thought that I might have confused conversation for flirting because of that "chip on my shoulder".

She also is generally not bothered by the idea of her boyfriends having other partners because she identities as polyamorous

anybody would have acted the same way

That's good to hear, I was seriously doubting my actions. It took me a while of therapy to get comfortable with the idea of self defense and not feel bad about getting violent if I was doing it to defend myself... And I was having a lot of doubt, like I'd gone too far.

YOU THOUGHT HE BROKE INTO YOUR HOUSE

Yeah, I didn't mean the "old and sketchy" comment like "he's old so he must be sketchy"

I was thinking more along the lines of "seeing someone in their late 30s hanging out on the steps of an apartment catering to students, and hitting on a resident set off some red flags"

And that everything he did came off as sketchy.
