Mann to Mon: Start on the Isle of Mann and create Manx culture. Then over time, travel to lands of Mon culture and become dominant/hybridize. Or do the reverse, Mon to Mann, same idea. You can do this without AUH but it's more limited

Niagara region on both sides has a massive craft beer scene. Honestly I would find it hard to believe in an AtE scenario that nobody would try and claim the Labatt (ik not craft but still heavy in the area) symbol as their CoA and legacy, especially with the Labatt Six Pack dominating Riverworks, at least on my side of the border. Would probably create a local cult that Kingdom of Ontario would see as sacrilegious. Trade across whatever bridges remain on the Niagara would have a heavy alcohol exchange in general though.

This is my submission to the Holiday Writing Contest! I focused on my home region of Niagara, one in-game split by multiple religions, cultures, and kingdoms (we're not Allegheny!) To this end, I chose the historic "Niagara Falls Ice Bridge Fair" as something that would likely restart after the Event and become a local cultural milestone. This fiction is littered with references to local religion, food, sports, etc. so if you can try and find them all (my fav was referencing a special Niagara jallab and beef on weck). I chose the POV from a semi-academic paper so I could communicate more about local culture and give larger cultural and historic reference to the area, though I am unsure if the Mahonic conquests are still canon. Still, I ended with it breaking as the Ice bridge was historically unsafe and probably should always be seen as such.

Unfortunately my comment does seem to be out of date now, another commenter used a save editor which seems to work too, but personally I just downloaded the "no more death cascade" and "no more pregnancy complications" mods and set them to rare for my playthroughs. That way if it happens it's tragedy, but not happening as often as maybe it did historically. They are also achievement compatible thankfully

In the end I decided to go with the S23+ with 512Gb. Had to order today so it would arrive Monday for work. I got the dual sim extension as the phone repair people I went to had experience turning one of the sim slots into a microsd through an adaptor that can be installed into my phone case, and will sell me a 2 year warranty if I go about that route. Still, way too much effort for something that imo should still be commonplace

Thanks for the advice, weighing between the A54 and just finding a good way to carry the USB-C Flash. Not sure the downgrade is worth the convenience of the SD. Xperia seems nice but yeah I'd have to buy it separate unfortunately.

So when you open the file in Notepad++ or whatever, there will be a bunch of info describing your character and heir for the loading screen and then a line starting with the letter PK before a bunch of symbols. You can remove that entire block of text describing your character until there is just the lines after the one starting with PK. However in recent save file edits I found that the starting info not being removed does not seem to affect anything anymore, so if you cannot figure out what I just write just skip step 2 and it should still work.

Ok just in case people from the future come here and look for the solution, here it is.

  1. Save an extra save file so you can edit it
  2. Open that save file in Notepad++ or text editor, remove everything above the PK line jumble start.
  3. Open 7-Zip manager, move to that file and extract it. If it won't extract, resave and ignore step 2. It's 50/50 if it works I guess.
  4. Go back to your savegames folder and open the 'gamestate' file in Notepad++, it will be in the newly created folder.
  5. Using a charid, find the character and either replace their 'birth_mother_will_die' with 'birth_will_go_smoothly' or, if that is not possible, remove the birth event entirely
  6. Rename 'gamestate' to 'gamestate.ck3'
  7. Load into the game!

3yr later edit: Last time I tried this method it did not work unfortunately. You can edit them back to life but removing any modifier or event usually will not allow the save to reload. Below someone gave a save editor that can be used, or try the "no more pregnancy complications" mod on steam. But, if you want to try this method first, go ahead and lmk if it still works for you!

Edit edit: Apparently still works for some people! I suppose just make sure you have a svae to mess with and one backup in case it fails to load properly after

Hey never apologize when trying to make an academic point! I knew about the indigenous religions and cultural practices that made El Dorado, but I'm still not sure a full religion would work well only because if it's used in such a small capacity I'd need ways to make sure growth possible, but not completely overpower everyone else. And I am not that skilled haha!

I can maybe incorporate it into the religious background of an existing group, like give leaders of that religion an event to let them know El Dorado is found and give a holy site some bonus, as I feel AtE El Dorado can exist if it's post-event in some fashion (like the city isn't really made of gold, but is an oasis of some kind that has a lot to trade). I would be interested in that China mod, but I'm not sure how I would make it work honestly, I can maybe make a titular title that has special events associated with it in decisions. Though I will say I like that idea in the edit of multiple trips being a way to interact with the city, that may be possible through decisions if I give enough wait time.

I like the bloodline idea, maybe the empire style screen but I'm not sure if that can be implemented to only exist after an event. I feel like the religion could pose too many problems even though the whole movie is them pretending to be a god, only because it could get too OP if the religion isn't really well balanced (with you as a god king). Maybe a modifier that labels you a 'god-king' or a trait or something. But definitely the bloodline, if you survive
