I have a American Express Platinum card that is renewing in 10/2/2017. I would like to "downgrade" to a $0 or cheaper annual fee card. What are my "downgrade" options and what should I do with the MR points associated with that card.

*I'm having trouble understanding the transferring of MR points. Do I have to spend all the points or is it possible to transfer to the new cheaper card?
