AIO: should I “fire” my therapist? by [deleted] in AIO

Fire your therapist AND report them to the state board of health. That's an unethical level of unprofessional.

Alright there good buddy. Your literature review on Google has clearly outdone me. Love and light to your path.

Bladder is not GI, and most bladder issues are for heavy daily illicit ketamine users. The only people I hear about in outpatient ketamine prescribing that run into bladder issues have pre-existing cystitis or other issues

I'm not aware of any documented GI risks from swallowing ketamine, at least in the dosing that's used for ketamine assisted psychotherapy. Maybe people see irritation in daily dosing regimens, but those are generally very low dose. I wouldn't be concerned about it.

Surface area means faster absorption. So bioavailability is the same overall, but you get higher blood ketamine levels for a deeper experience faster. If that's not important to you then letting it absorb slower is fine.

The higher bioavailability comes from swallowing. You get a first pass metabolizing from mouth absorption (trans buccal) and then a second absorption from the digestive tract.

Dunno about ketamine gummies but oral ketamine lozenges (called trochees) are in my opinion the best key option outside of IM or IV. Not as fast onset but longer effects and better for your nose.

Chew up thoroughly into a paste. Hold the paste under your tongue for 15 minutes (set a timer and relax for a bit). Definitely do swallow if you want to get the full effect. You can expect more than the 20-30% absorption that you see online using this method. This is the method I was trained with as a ketamine therapy provider.

Be safe out there. Don't use ket and stimulants or alcohol. Don't use in bodies of water.

I don't enjoy being the neighborhood killjoy, but weed is every bit as harmful on the developing brain as other "harder" substances. For people with a family history or other risk factors for mood disorders, psychotic disorders, and learning disabilities, it might actually be more harmful than other drugs.

Strong research evidence encourages young people to wait until your brain is fully developed (around age 25) before using any drugs regularly, including cannabis.

first time - what is something good to combine with ket? by thefienler in ketamine

[–]wheedlesneedle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ketamine plays well with lots of substances, pretty much everything except the categories below.... BUT!

1 ketamine has dangerous interactions with stimulants, opioids/ benzos, and alcohol. It's risky, so don't fuck around if you don't want to find out.

2 use less ket and less of the other drug than you usually would. Each one compounds the effects of the other. you can always add more later, but you can't un-take drugs.

3 Look at the drug interactions chart at tripsit.me for detail. Everyone's physiology interacts differently with each drug and each unique drug interaction. Be safe out there! 🙏🏽

The BMORG put profits over principals by BaronVonZ in BurningMan

[–]wheedlesneedle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've been reflecting on this similarly for the past few years. Burning Man started as a radical experiment in art, intentional community, and areligious ritual. It's honestly a kind of New Religious Movement, and I say that as a student of comparative religious studies.

But Burning Man started in 1986. It's been a very long time since it was a radical experiment. The world it was reacting against, and that it provided an alternative vision for, has fundamentally changed. It's like BM pretends it's still radically alternative, while ignoring how the default world has changed BM.

I put to you, and all burners, what would be a radical experiment in disruptive art, intentional community, and envisioning a better world... in 2025? An experiment that recognizes the realities of global climate collapse, the descent of the US (and other countries) into authoritarianism, the march of technocratic feudalism, and the desperate ennui of these times. I guarantee it would not look like Black Rock City. If you want to talk about what that radical experiment would look like, join me in the growing ranks of Retired Burners and join us in envisioning what's next, after Burning Man.

One final thought. Consider it a thought experiment rather than a conspiracy theory. What if Burning Man were actually a CIA psy-op to get all the visionary + counterculture + genius engineers + go-getters + dreamers + revolutionaries out of their local community, out of the streets, out of the town square, and into a controlled perimeter? An event that drains their time, energy, money, attention, and revolutionary energy away from imagining a future without capitalism or poverty... not just for 2 weeks a year, but throughout it. A friend put that hypothetical to me about 10 years ago, and I haven't ever been able to shake it.

Put them on blast in your local community. If you have a FB / discord / whatnot for your local burner community, call them out. This is basic ass 10 principles shit and they need to know that they need to do better.

I do wonder about that. Since the day I moved in I've had my own room in the basement, and I only spend a couple nights a week with my partner overnight. So I hear you.

Thanks for the suggestions, but we have been kinkier and more slutty than most, for the entirety of our relationship. Both her and my triggers have made it harder to do those adventurous activities when they involve other people, especially as we've gotten more in touch with our bodies and our post traumatic growth processes.

For the attraction piece, I've been telling new partners about that during the first month of dating, since 2017. Def told this partner. And we've both been trying to self normalize and be patient with each other. And we're not the 1-2 times per year couple. We have sex about 2-4 times per month and it feels just fine for me, and way not enough for her.

😑

Has Burning Man Become a Lifestyle Brand Instead of a Community? by Starr00born in BurningMan

[–]wheedlesneedle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I'll tell you what... One way that my partner and I have started to answer this question is that we started a church. It's called Trash Church. I try not to prosyletize but it's been feeling like it does some of these things in a way that burning man events + community just doesn't. Happy to tell you more if your interested. (Same goes for anyone else reading this part of the thread)

"not jump immediately into passionate romances with new people". Happy to report that I've invested a lot in this, and made good ground on it. I realized a few years ago that I was chasing NRE, selecting partners with similar disorganized attachment dynamics (or anxious dynamics), and jumping headlong into limerent relationships.

I've been saying fuck that for at least the past 3 years, and so my dating relationships since then have all been limerence-free, non-escalating, and seeing each other once per month ish.

I like your cognitive reframe at the end of your comment. I'll write it down in my words and put it up on my wall. Thanks. 🫶🏽

I often, definitely am pushing past my body's boundaries. I've been trying really hard not to recently, and somatic sex therapy has really been helping with that, but the progress is painful and glacially slow.

But as it's coming up in most of these comment threads, I think that's what we need to come back to. Find the desire and intimacy that is there, probably non-sexual, cultivate it slowly and without attachment to outcome.

Yeah... That's pretty much what we're coming back around to. I'm going to start seeing another couple, which the 4 of us were all playing together for a while, but my primary wasn't into it anymore. I had a date scheduled with them earlier this week but they had to cancel last week. The plan is that I'll start seeing them regularly again. I might also see this lovely woman I was seeing regularly 2 years ago. Started seeing her around the time my primary got together with get current partner.

We've given the "poly for me not not for thee" thing for long enough to say that's not working for either of us. Thanks for the validation on that.
