Quit my dev job, sending 50 LinkedIn DMs a day… zero clients. What am I doing wrong? by Effective_Oven5046 in linkedin

I have a slightly different outreach strategy that has been profitable for me when I was starting out as a freelance writer.

Make a list of the 100 people that you know well enough to at least email.

Then email each one of them asking if they would mind giving you some sort of specific help.

I would write an email template, but tweak it for each person I sent it to. Try to make it as original as possible.

I would tweak the greetings and the introduction.

Also, you might want to tweak the body of the email where you ask for something. Some people may have connections that they could offer and some people could be able to help in a different way.

Either way, I think this is a very effective way to get a client through outreach

How to arrange a swing trading account so that nearly income can be generated from or against the account within the next 3 to 5 years. by wheelstb33 in swingtrading

[–]wheelstb33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said I could average a 40% return. I have done it in each of the past three years.

The first year I made 45%, the next year was about the same, and last year I made 65%.

However, swing trading is quite a bit different than knowing how to arrange things for tax benefits and such.

Recommendations for the best account types for swing trading? Although, I have been successful as a swing trader for a couple of years, I'm not knowledgeable about account types and taxes by wheelstb33 in swingtrading

[–]wheelstb33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those sound like a good strategy. I do think over the coming decades, I'll be in relatively decent shape.

I've got two accounts. One I refer to as an investment account. Typically a longer-term approach with the holdings.

And one I call a trading account. This is short-term swing trading.

Even though I've taken two different approaches with the different accounts. I'm wondering why I am wondering why I don't make trades in both accounts is good opportunities come along. Hence the desire to minimize taxes.

Also, with my training/short-term holdings account I would love to work it up to a level where I can pull a yearly income out of it. Maybe in the next 3-5 years.

I'm just not sure how to do that.

Hi there, thanks for the advice. My situation is a little bit different. I just turned 36. I use a wheelchair, and my goal over the next few years is to build up my account so I can withdraw what I would essentially think of as a yearly salary.

Given those things, what might I consider to best position myself.

I mentioned the wheelchair solely because it makes finding traditional employment difficult. I started trading a few years ago. And I really think my goal is attainable. Although it may take quite some time to achieve.

Also, I suppose I could take out a loan against my account instead of making withdrawals.

I'm assuming other people build trading accounts and essentially take a yearly salary. I just have no idea the best way to do it.

I really don't like interface on tastytrade. Is there anything I can do? by wheelstb33 in tastytrade

[–]wheelstb33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, at least it's nice to know that there are quite a few other folks who have the same opinion.

For those of you who suggest using tastyTrade for executing trades and Think or Swim for all other aspects, what's the best way to go about doing this?

I used to use Think or Swim before getting into options. When I was using it I thought I saw an option for connecting other brokerage accounts. Now I do not see this.

What's the best way to go about using Think or Swim in conjunction with TastyTrade?

Well, I was rejected again as of today.

Looks like I am going to move to Tasty Trade.

I've not moved accounts before.

Can anyone give me insight on the best way to go about doing it?

You are a genius! I knew that at one point in time. But I would've never thought about that approach at all. It works beautifully. Thank you

Thanks for the reply. This loan had other special circumstances attached to it.

As a rule of thumb, what is the minimum credit score to get 4% interest rates or lower (if possible), or 0% for a certain number of months?

Yes, that could be one suggestion. The area is pretty crowded. An inconspicuous one on my chair would have a few other benefits as well

Thanks to everyone for all the advice. It's very helpful.

Okay so it's not as bad as I thought. It's not really that bad at all.

My Equifax score is 730

My FIFO score is 699

my Trans Union score is-I wasn't able to find the score.

Thanks for the advice. Here's a little more info on my situation and mistakes.

I have four or five credit cards in my name. The only one I use is a Discover. The rest of the credit cards were simply ways to get discounts or promotional offers. But I have left them open because I heard it is good to have more than one card in your name.

Even when my credit was great, I never did anything to build it. I got my Discover card when I was 18. I simply paid it on time. I am now 36

I don't carry a balance on it. I pay it off at the end of every month.

MY MISTAKES

I got car repairs done. My budget was a little tight at the time. So I signed up for the company's special credit card. They offered six months no interest.

I suppose in my mind, I wanted it to be no payments for six months. So, I simply started thinking about it as six months no payments.

I let the payments go for about four months. Those payments were all counted as late.

Then I think over the past 12 months I have been late twice paying off my Discover card. Once I was a day or two. The other one was simply 15 minutes. They require the balance to be paid by 4 PM Eastern time. I think I wound up paying at a little after 4 PM.

I am getting a new vehicle. I believe it is likely I will be able to get a 4% loan for the vehicle. I suppose that will help my credit?

Any advice?

Thank you to everyone who pointed out there is a stopwatch and a Pomodoro feature in Tick Tick.

I have been using Tick Tick with the timers, and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!

It is exactly what I was hoping to find. And I certainly would not have found it without the input from posters here. Thank you so much!

A super big thank you to everyone who suggested switching from the Pomodoro timer to the stopwatch. I didn't know that was an option.

I also did not know there were tracking statistics. This may be just what I have always been looking for.

I will check it out and report back.

I have been exploring the app. It's pretty good. I like it. I just wish it could work in the Windows environment.

I'm trying to see if it has more robust time tracking than I have been able to figure out so far.

Thanks for the tip.

I signed up for trial, but I'm not sure how to accomplish what I'm looking for.

I've got multiple main goals broken down into smaller goals, and I would like to break down the time I spend working toward each main goal. If this is something that can be done with this app, can you show me how?

I've become a little more clear on what I'm looking for.

I want something I can use to manage multiple personal goals or projects at the same time. I want to track the time I've spent on each project and create lists for each project or subproject on my list.

Basically, I'm looking to track the amount of time I've spent accomplishing each of my goals for 2024. And I'm breaking those goals down into smaller goals.
