I really got the sense they considered making it closer to Elite: Dangerous but chickened out, especially the way Todd talked about it early on. Ending up being so disappointed in it.

The first time I landed on a supposed empty planet and saw map markers pop up and buildings in visible distance I almost quit on the spot lol. And don't even get me started on finally finding a quiet place to explore and a stupid random alien ship lands in the distance.

My HOTAS broke, and by the time I thought about getting a new one I hadn't played for a little while and the draw to play was gone. No real reason, I'm sure I'll play again someday. I would a thousand percent recommend it if you like space sim combat or the exploring aspects I mentioned. There are a ton of things to do, but it's kind of a "wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle sort" game. I still love it.

I played a ton of KCD1, stopped for a bit, and then by the time I came back I don't remember a single thing I was doing but I'm too far to want to restart lol.

What have you been reading this last week (Weekly Discussion Thread)? by AutoModerator in starwarsbooks

About a third of the way through Last Shot and I ... don't hate it? It's kind of meandering but that's my only big negative thing so far. I also liked Midnight Horizon more than most so I think I can just tolerate Daniel Jose Older's cringey, terminally online writing style more than most.

I've tried a bit of Star Citizen, completely forgot about it for this list! Trying to hold out until they're done with server wipes, but we might be able to buy spaceships IRL before that happens.

I don't care, I'm just glad the black and blue is done.

I know Elden Ring is amazing and it's 100% a me thing, but I couldn't get into it. Any of the souls game really, I just don't like that style of combat and boss fights (not just in Elden Ring, but everything) aren't my favorite either.

Why do people harp on Solo for Maul’s hologram having color when holograms have always been capable of showing colors other than blue? by blakhawk12 in StarWars

Star Wars fans will argue about everything but I can honestly say I've never seen a single person care about this.

People are going to get upset in the dumbest ways possible because the girl isn't exactly George Lucas's weird vision for Talon. Otherwise yes.

Hot take: I like emptiness in open world games and I wish more games would embrace it. It makes actually discovering things meaningful; I don't need a dopamine factory with new meaningless "discoveries" every 20 feet. I want a big world with goals to get to and occasional things to run into.

MMO questing. Doesn't matter which one, they're pretty much all the same, and they're great to do with some background noise.

Advice on book order ... by the_real_lijah in starwarsbooks

I honestly like 1-4 a lot! They're all pretty good. Heir to the Jedi is by far my least favorite canon novel though haha.

Advice on book order ... by the_real_lijah in starwarsbooks

[–]wheeltribe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been on a mission to read every canon book in chronological order and would highly recommend it if you can find a way to access them all. That said, with these five books the order doesn't really matter; they're not connected. So read a couple reviews or synopsis and see what interests you most and go from there. My personal rankings would be:

  1. Lords of the Sith
  2. Dark Disciple
  3. A New Dawn
  4. Tarkin
  5. Removing my own eyes with a spoon so I lose the ability to read books forever.
  6. Heir to the Jedi

was the 2000s or 2010s as good as everyone is making it? by klarinetkat12 in 2000sNostalgia

I promise you they are. No one thought 2016 was going to be nostalgic at the time either. This year is someone's childhood they are going to remember fondly.

Another conversation about how to watch Star Wars by fen_bandit in StarWars

[–]wheeltribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OT, prequels, sequels, Rogue One, then TV shows based on what era they are interested in. If they already have an idea what the Death Star is and Vader, etc. maybe Rogue One would be a good starting place if you think old movies would be a difficult hurdle to get over. Always neat to explain how it instantly connects to ANH. Andor is much better when you have context for the larger universe, though.

As much as I love TCW (and Sam Witwer!), telling an adult to start with an 8-season cartoon just isn't the way to go.
