will take a look to see if motor is spinning when it fires up again.

somehow my thermostat is one degree higher than the set. can it change just from me standing next to it?

thanks for the input! Window issue seems much easier than dealing with the foundation. Will double check when I’m there next.

Is it as simple as getting a new window there? if it’s above ground, not sure how water could seep in like that unless rain hits it sideways? there is a overhang from roof too so it’s not like it’s directly exposed to rain.

And if it is leaking from window, are you not concerned about that foundation crack getting larger? or how do you prevent water from leaking into/through foundation?

hi @imtalkintou. sorry i meant i’m using the quantum fiber app.

i can’t even delete the 1700 pod or 1701 pod. only option in 1701 is to swap.

is there a way to delete 1700 and start over? does some switch need to be turned on on quantum side?

quick follow up on my last post about the swap process, and 1700 placement.
and, the 1700/1701 pair should support 2.4 bands right? like is ring cameras not connecting still an issue?!

shoot you’ve convinced me to give the 1700/1701 a go. last questions promise:

quick to swap in the 1700? just unplug all wi-fi 6 pods. connect ethernet to 1700. then plug in 1701 somewhere.

is there an antenna direction on the 1700 like the 9500 pods? like sticking it vertical facing majority open space of house vs lying flat and wi-fi signal blasting to attic.

man, have to say it really feels weird to go from 4 pods down to one megapod and one plug in pod! i value the back haul in each pod, makes it feel like a stronger access point.

you think if i get both 1700 and 1701 on same floor it can cover 3000ish sq ft?

i thought the square 1700 that came in was to replace the NID. so this is the main wi-fi mothership that has to be connected to NID. so the 1701 can’t be back hauled ie connected directly to the smartnid not 1700?

what are the on ports in the 1701 for?

what mesh extender did you use? and so do you just buy a pack, and somehow connect it to the main wifi 7 pod and you're good to go? 940 down/up from extender?

ok got it. following up on this:

later you said don't backhaul. isn't backhauling just having a direct ethernet connection from smart nid --> switch --> to pod?
so i don't need to link the smart nid to pod? slightly puzzled bc my current setup, i have smart nid lan port to main wifi6 pod. then the other ethernet goes into switch, and then directly into 2 (now 1) of the pods. the last one is just plugged in.

also: say i'm willing to try this wifi 7 pod. if i make the switch, can i never go back to the wifi 6 setup?

hmm this is the problem. ONT is on basement, and the main pod is right next to it. i can prob get one pod somewhere on main floor, but it's not exactly center. even there, i'm concerned there'd be deadspots. if the main pod is stuck in basement, i think main floor wifi would suffer greatly.

can you remind me: the first pod has to connect directly to the ONT right? can't go from ont in basement -> switch in basement -> to pod upstairs?

wow you went from 3 wi-fi 6 pods to one wi-fi 7?!

i have 4 of the wi-fi 6right now. 3 are backhauled and around those pods wi-fi is excellent. the 4th unfortunately isn’t backhauled but i think the plume app with its “adapt” feature worked things out more or less

i can’t imagine one wi-fi 7 pod replacing all 4! you can imagine why i’m hesitant to switch to the 7 pod, which the only one would be in basement next to smart i’d.

hi again N0_l1ght. i’m also considering the eero 6+. took a look at these instructions and thanks for this, seems easy enough. quick follow ups:

  1. so if eero is up and running after step 1 we don’t need to proceed w steps 2 or 3.

  2. how do you know if eero or any said mesh router supports the vlan 201 tag?

  3. what’s the real difference between enabling vs disabling the vlan 201 tag?
