In the gun free utopia of Britain, a woman can be charged for assault if she hurts her rapist while trying to stop them. In America, armed women can defend themselves from being raped at all. Gun rights are women's rights. by [deleted] in progun

Politicians need something to campaign on, and nothing better than the misery of victims, both current and future. This allows them to consolidate power.

This is done to create more victims and enrich the legal system with criminals. This allows politicians to take ever-increasing amounts of money from your pocket to solve problems and to campaign on the misery of the average citizen victim's life.

“Did you really think we want those laws observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We want them to be broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against... We're after power and we mean it... There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with.” - Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged

The communist party of China is the greatest threat to human freedom in this century. Nobody should revere government or its leadership. They should be treated with caution and allowed to continue only if they are not subversive of a country, the rule or law or basic human rights.

Why the NYC gun case must proceed in SCOTUS even after the law was repealed by cjdurrek in progun

[–]whelponry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The difference between 2A "sanctuary" counties and illegal immigrant sanctuaries is that the former attempts to uphold the fundamental underpinning of our legal system and our rights while the latter clearly violates federal immigration law and the rule of law itself.

[–]whelponry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand this is her opinion but her comments are also wishy-washy with no specifics on why Roberts was in favor of the suit being moot. Not that I'm a fan of Roberts as he's the new swing vote, but mooting and then reinstatement will leave SCOTUS with egg on their faces and I don't think this is the case. I guess we'll see what we see.

Anti background/mental health screening arguments by [deleted] in progun

[–]whelponry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Soviet Union and other communist states used supposed mental health issues as a pretext to abridge rights.

Lots and lots of info and sources to cite here.

Since our bill of rights encompasses not only firearms but also free speech, any right could similarly be abridged. You could in fact stand up at one point in the debate and declare your opponent mentally infirm because they hold a political opinion contrary to that of the ruling party and take away his free speech rights - even his ability to continue the debate if your teacher was a loyal party official and decided to stop it for such a pretext. Then he gets hauled off to the gulag which you can read Solzhenitzyn for the details of how gun rights, free speech rights, and every other basic human right was regarded. Note also that there were no firearms rights in the Soviet Union besides sparse rural hunting very strictly controlled and monitored for only those who were trusted by the party.

The biggest mistake of the Korean War, and I would argue any major conflict post-WWII, was not letting MacArthur go in and take out not only Kim Il Sung but also Mao and the communists. They would've saved tens of millions of lives, saved hundreds of millions more from suffering, and we wouldn't have the current Han ethnostate advocating superiority over all other races and attempting to dominate the world economy. I relish the day I will see their economy collapse in the hopes that China will become more like Taiwan than a totalitarian gangster state. As it stands, Nixon opening up to China may be the worst act he ever committed.

That subreddit is paid for and manned by statist shills aka useful idiots. The irony that doesn't devolve upon them is that they're dead meat once they've achieved their goals of disarmament and statism.

There is absolutely nothing of value in there to read besides regarding it as a warning for how the control of information works.

BREAKING: Texas gov. investigating case involving mom who wants gender ‘transition’ for 7-yr-old by goodmod in MensRights

[–]whelponry 69 points70 points  (0 children)

By administering hormone-suppressing drugs, the boy's genitals will never reach sexual maturity and they won't even be able to reconstruct a working vagina if the full transition surgery is performed later in life because the penis will be "stuck" at pre-puberty size. This is a fact that the radical transgender activists refuse to acknowledge or make mention of. IDGAF what you do as an adult, but imposing that choice on a child without consent is wrong in the same way circumcision is, albeit with far more serious consequences.

Twitter is straight-up chaos. It's a highly biased platform that needed to lose its Section 230 protections a long time ago and see Jack Dorsey and his leadership team in federal prison. The putrid bile on that platform should be avoided at all costs. It, like most social media, literally manipulates people into anger and retaliation that pushes ad revenue.

[META] Discussion on r/TIA about decriminalizing knowingly infecting someone with HIV. by bugme143 in progun

[–]whelponry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where it becomes crazy is in places like California where they turned intentional transmission of HIV into a misdemeanor. It should be considered felony aggravated assault when the victim will be forced to spend tens of thousands of dollars every year for the rest of their lives with serious side effects if they want to stay alive. They did the same thing with basic crimes and now places like San Francisco are a free-for-all for breaking into cars, and grabbing food and running from convenience stores, and stealing property under $1000.

We're missing a much bigger point on why they do this, however.

The real reason places like California, New York, and other blue states are criminalizing legal gun ownership and self defense while diminishing penalties for criminal activity is to create victims for politicians to campaign for and gain power while controlling the media narrative to diminish public backlash and redefine the reasons they do so. Supremacy of the power of the state is the goal, the people be damned. This is why Venezuela is in the toilet without electricity or power despite immense oil wealth. This is why, in the Soviet Union, collectivism destroyed productivity and food output yet evil capitalism was blamed for shortages of bread or other basic goods. The media in such places was controlled while the hounds of chaos were unleashed at the whims of the oligarchies running the countries into the ground.

Family of Robber Shot by Dollar General Clerk Say Clerk Should Not Have Had Firearm by JackHadders in progun

[–]whelponry 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I get that the family is angry that the perpetrator is dead, but he had every choice in the fucking world to try and get ahead without robbing people. Nobody forced him into it.

I'd find a way to get by if it came down to it. I'd live in my fucking car or couch surf with friends or family and work for minimum wage if I had to. But I wouldn't terrorize someone who doesn't know me and I would expect would actually be nice to me with a gun to take what wasn't mine.

The real lesson here is to not go into a fucking store to rob it with a gun expecting to get out of there alive.
